...wonder why the site performance has dropped below a sad lonely 486 with the "turbo" button not pressed... Personally, I re-soldered the turbo button to be the speaker on/off cuz that stupid -beep!- when it didn't like a typo you'd fix was really annoying and why would you not want to run that 486 on turbo clock speeds?!? oh, yeah, cuz it wasn't in spec and therefore out of warranty... sadness. I seriously don't miss my day-job in the 90s. Yeah, it paid off my house but that was cuz of what I accomplished, not my lamentable desk hardware...

wow! It took 20 seconds to post that. OMfG! I have ([member=75283]4nthony[/member] too!) pet projects with ridiculously better performance specs! I'm gonna hit post, run downstairs, make tea, reflect a bit, and run upstairs to see if I beat this reply... 10/10 I do... go!

I thought it was just me because the FOG has been very slow to load for the past few days.  I can take care of other Internet business while waiting for a new FOG page to load, even after clearing cache, cookies, and rebooting.  I'll check back later today to see if this post is available.

Exactly! haha! I think someone de-soldered the clock from that 486 and hooked up a paddle Morse-coder for the clock... sorry but even a whole buncha Ss in a row won't make up 100 Mhz... Maybe add more caffeine?!

At least no one is getting special treatment and it's rubbish for all of us...  [scared]

Well, on my end it has just become "faster" but there is still an unusual lag.  I will alert Festool USA IT once their workday starts.  It was too painful to try and send a message yesterday.

Peter

Even the BBSs that I ran 25-30 years ago were faster on their 386s on dial-ups than the FOG has been the last few days.  [mad]

Everything is running much more smoothly now (as opposed to even as recently as 2 1/2 hours ago).

Thank you for any part you had to play in that, [member=1674]Peter Halle[/member] !

486 with a turbo button. Ha! The only thing I miss from those days is my old IBM "clicky" keyboard. As loud as it was, it was built like a tank and was a real pleasure to type on.

Maybe the site is running better for you, but the delay between click and action for me is still 20 to 30 seconds.

I spoke too soon.  It's back to miserable for me as well.  But for that brief period of time, I was able to read and post that reply in less time than it took me to click into this response, and it was glorious.

Same. DownForEveryoneOrJustMe is reporting an outage, though I'm able to post after significant delay.

I just wanted to point out after all of the times I've visited over the last 12-18 hours how much I appreciate the title of this thread.

[member=3513]PaulMarcel[/member] , this was exquisitely done!  [big grin]

Just as a heads up, I did follow up and report the issue to Festool at 8:26 AM today.

FOG Server appears to have reverted to 14.4K Dial up modem?

[scared]
More likely some "backend" service is having issues and the server is waiting, then a time-out kicks in and the page is delivered to the user. Once the page gets to load, it is fast in sending the data, all of it. The delay is also consistent regardless time of day.
