Close your eyes and say a prayer.  [big grin] I've had two of my three get their licenses. One more to go. Luckily, neither of them have had accidents since they began driving, so I did something right.

It's tough sending them out on the roads alone, they're just so young.

There was no way I was going to get my son to wait, but I did get my daughter to delay getting her license until she was 18. All it took was a promise of a new car of her choice for her 18th birthday. I think it was well worth it.

I feel you. I could theoretically become a grandfather in a couple of years and I barely feel like being an adult at this point.....
 
My oldest got her learners permit 21 years ago, youngest 11 years ago. Our son was 16 years ago.

Wait until they text you they got engaged (daughters), or married(son), or moms finally a grandma(son) (I'm to young to be a grandpa). Yes, all 3 happened to us. A sign of the times. They give you a heads up and call you latter in the day when everyone has time to talk.

She chose a Mustang. That was back in 2000.

She took good care of it, and never had an accident. She traded it in a few years ago for a Suburban to haul her two little girls (and all their stuff) around.  [smile]

Neither my 21 year old daughter or 19 year old son drive. My son has his learners permit, but has very little inclination to practice.

My daughter has moved out and works a stone's throw from where she lives and my son's studying fitness training at TAFE and chooses to cycle most of the time.

I was totally different going up - times change! Though I suppose where we live and what's nearby has a part to play.

 
I have taught 3 and put behind the wheel and I have 4 more to go. I think by the time I get to the 7th one I will probably fall asleep in the passenger seat because I am to tired. They range from 32 down to 4. I am feeling pretty tired now think I'll go to bed.

This is apparently a growing trend which is starting to be noticed by vehicle manufacturers. The increased connectivity of cars is a reaction to this; for example putting an obvious and large screen device on the dash of the new Mercedes C class.

My son complains about catching the train to uni 1 hr each way, but at 20 years only has 20 hrs of the 150 required here pre licence.
 
I will see two of my grandsons drive before my youngest. Maybe this is why I work alone. Need piece and quiet somewhere.
