Looking to buy Oneida dust extraction for my CT36 and also add a Kapex to it soon. What are your likes and dislikes on those 2 and a Planex easy.  Thanks

I have three of the steel cyclones that are mounted on 30 gallon paint/grease cans and one of the Festool versions that lives on top of a MIDI.  Great stuff...never cleaned filters in last six years.

I have about a year on a ct26 with dust deputy. Using a miter saw, track saw, router, and sanders. I'll echo positive thoughts.

Here is my setup for my Kapex.  Using the plastic dust deputy and a dedicated Rigid 5hp small vacuum on a roller platform I made.  This way my larger Dust Deputy is free for connecting to the table saw, router table, planer, etc.  Don't have to switch hoses every time I use the Kapex and it rolls away for storage.  Using a short section of Rigid hose to connect to the Kapex.  Have it wired through an IVac controller so the vac comes on with the saw.

Many of my coworkers have the DD.  They swear by them. I have mulled about getting the CT compatible DD, simply because this version seems more durable than the 5 gallon bucket versions.

HOWEVER...

I just saw on Tool Nut that the CT version of the Dust Deputy is not compatible with any 2018 CTs.  That may be a deal breaker for me.

Does this mean that older Systainers won’t fit 2018 CTs either?  I’m puzzled.

Wonder in what way it's not compatible. Just ordered a Domino, DD and the new CT26 before the end of April and waiting for the Domino and CT to ship. The would kind of be a deal breaker for me too, only because I need the DD to sit on top of the CT because of space limitations. Perhaps I could contact Tool Nut and change my order to the old model CT before it ships?

oh damn, I wish I would have new that before.

My new 2018 ct26 is being delivered tomorrow and my Ultimate Dust Deputy is already sitting in the corner waiting for it.

uuuggghhh... nothings ever simple for me lol

Oneida Cyclones are great, I own a Oneida Dust Cobra and an Oneida Mini Gorilla.

Keep in mind that cyclones most effectively separate large chips. The smaller/finer the particles, the less effective the cyclone will be at separating. For instance, chips going off a planer or router table area easy, whereas drywall dust will be more of a challenge for the cyclone to fully separate. It has been my experience that Dust Deputies work well, but be prepared for the fleece bag to clog before it fills, and to be "OK" with throwing out fleece bags that are half-full but fully saturated with ultra-fine dust when sanding drywall.

Yea that doesnt make sense. But I have been waiting for confirmation on this before I ordered the new hose garage to upgrade my existing CT 36.

I have no confirmation on this statement and perhaps [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] does, but I’m wondering if the CT Dust Devil sits down inside the perimeter of the old hose garage while the systainers sit simply in the recess. I can’t imagine that FT would be shortsighted enough to design a new garage that would exclude integration of even the T-loc SYS, not to mention the classic SYS.  If older SYS do not fit in the new garages, FT has made a significant mistake.

Guys, sorry for the delayed response. I've been away from the computer today.

Here's what's going on. We have had a couple of customers already report issues with compatibility between the Oneida Ultimate Dust Deputy and the newly updated (2018 version) CTs. The reason is that Festool reversed the orientation of the Systainer latches on the hose garage. That means that one of the tubes is not long enough to reach. You can see the red square in the attached photo that shows where the tube attaches.

We have reached out to Oneida on the topic and they have purchased one of the new CTs from us. We will keep everyone posted when we get more information.

Thanks [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member]

So, technically the DD is still compatible.  All one needs to do is purchase a longer vacuum hose or get one from Oneida.

When I read about incompatibility, I was thinking of the footprint.  Glad to hear that is not the case.

I don't think Shane is referring to the hose but rather the tube that Oneida furnishes to vacuum the bag to the container walls...could be wrong though.  The tube is just 1/4 or 5/16" polypropylene tube connected to the container and a valve to shut off the suction.  [unsure]

It's actually a 1/4" tube that, I believe, is used for back pressure / suction. You can see it in step 13 on page 7 of the instruction manual. While a longer tube would certainly solve the issue, it would be a little hacky. Ideally, the valve would be repositioned to the other side so it's closer to the hose connector on the vac. Otherwise, the tube would be running from the front of the vac to the back and could get caught on something.

PS - The footprint is fine, no issues there.

Thanks [member=25351]rst[/member] for the correction. I realized after the fact that my post was confusing, but I forgot to return and edit it.

I’m just happy that the fix is relatively simple.

oh good, it's not a real hardware problem or that it wouldn't mount correctly on the actual extractor.

I get my 2018 ct26 from festoolproducts.com (as well as my domino) tomorrow and am glad the UDD I got from them will still work. I don't plan on using a bag in my garage setting, so I don't foresee a problem with the small clear hose not being long enough.

Just got a notice that my Domino and CT26 shipped so too late to talk about changing my order to the old (2017) model of the CT. Talked to CS at Oneida, they are aware of the problem and will ship me the "fix" - a 5' length of tubing to go from the back to the front of the unit. I mentioned the idea of the self-adhesive mounts which they thought was a good idea and will be looking at, so maybe the fix will eventually include a couple of the mounts. I did a quick check, and they're available at Lowes at $2.28 for a pack of 10.

Until Oneida gets a more permanent solution in place, I would think anyone wanting to do so could just drill and move the valve to the other side of the dust bin pretty easily. Would just need something to plug or cap the old hole.
