Hello -    I am considering getting an Oneida mini gorilla for my Hammer C3.  If anyone has done this and has some info, that would be great.  In particular, the Hammer C3 manual part 1 page 21 is saying they want 1824 Pa (about 7.3 inch SP) for the saw unit.  They spec the air volume at 814 cu-m/hr (about 480 CFM). I know different manufacturers seem to quote air volume and static pressure somewhat different, so I am looking for any real world experience that folks could share.  I am probably going to keep the flex hose at 4" to 5" dia, and under 8' long to maximize the DC performance.
Thanks very much.

If I was you I would call Lisa Barone at Oneida. She is a wealth of knowledge behind the scenes. She has helped me many times.

She can be difficult to reach but it is worth the effort. Once you get hold of her be prepared because, again she can be difficult to reach. She is a busy bee.

Ditto on contacting Lisa Barone at Oneida.  She helped me get set up as well.  Very knowledgeable.

If the Mini Gorilla is not sufficient, you can build a plywood base with casters to make a larger machine portable.

I had an earlier generation mini gorilla on a Delta Unisaw and the dust collection was excellent. I think that was a result of the good suction of the MG and also the good design on the Unisaw (shroud around the blade, etc).

I then owned a Hammer K3 and DC was really good while hooked to a Clearvue Cyclone.  We moved and I started to sell tools because of reduced shop space. I sold the Clearvue and for a short while had a new mini gorilla hooked up the the Hammer K3.

DC with the MG on the K3 was not a good as what I had with the Unisaw, but I don't think that was because of any lack of suction from the MG. If anything, I think this new generation of MG is better than the one I owned several years ago.  The K3 isn't as "closed in" as the Unisaw was, and more dust gets down inside the saw.  But with that said, it wasn't terrible and certainly nothing that would prevent me from wanting to buy a Hammer product and to use a MG with it.  For the short time that the K3 and MG overlapped in my shop, I just periodically slid open the access panel on the K3 and vacuumed out the dust using my Festool Mini.

I know you're asking about your C3 and I had a K3, but I think the internals are similar and this might give you enough info to apply my results to your situation.

I should say that I also had a  vac with a 50 mm hose connected to the blade guard whenever possible, and that helped a bit on the topside with DC.

You have already gotten a good recommendation for contact at Oneida.  If that doesn't work out you can ask for my rep and I am sure you will get good advice.  I recently bought a MG and Dust Cobra from  Mark Schreiber.

I had a couple assembly issues with the new MG. I was able to work my way through them with no problem but if you get one and have any Q's feel free to contact me .

Rob Z , thanks very much !  Your post is extremely helpful.  Yeah, I am planning to put a DC hose on the blade guard as well.  And yes, I agree w you, I think the K3 and the C3 saw internals are very similar.  Thanks for the addt'l contact at Oneida.
good luck with your projects.......

Hi wwb119,

(First post on this forum...  :-) )

I own the Dust Cobra instead of the Mini Gorilla, so it might be a little different from your setup. However I am quite satisfied with its performance when connected to my Hammer C3-31. I too would strongly recommend you to use the 50 mm dust port on the blade guard next to the main dust port on the cabinet. Without it some dust will get away from the blade. With it almost no dust is visible after sawing. The cabinet of the C3-31 is connected with a 4" hose to the Oneida. I had to make two adapters to get it connected to the Oneida and the Hammer (120 mm!), but I am glad I did that. The performance is a lot better than when I used the standard 2.5" hose that comes with it.

WWB,  thanks  [big grin]  My project now is just getting a new shop fully set up....trying to fit it all in about 385 sq ft.  [eek]

Check out the Dust Cobra, maybe for your blade guard DC.  I am impressed with its performance and I'm glad I bought it.

Hello HdV -  thank you for the info, much appreciated.  My current plan (which may change) is to use 5 inch hose where I can, use a wye connector and run a short 50mm hose up to the blade guard.  I am going down the same road, and researching out Fernco couplings, Oneida and NordFab adapters, home made adapters, etc to get the Hammer and the Oneida connected.

Rob Z -  yes I hear you there, my shop is about 420 sq-ft.  I am moving things around in my primitive SketchUp garage shop model, to get everything to fit.

  cheers...

Hi wwb119 - I am wondering if you did indeed get the Oneida Mini Gorilla to go with your Hammer C3 and how that is going?  I am ordering the C3 31 Comfort right now and looking at dust collection options for a very tight space.  Did you find a good source for connectors that worked well going from imperial to metric dimensions?  I'm also curious if you think there are any tooling options that are good to get right off the bat.  Thanks for any insight you can provide!
