Hi All,

I want to get a good cordless grease gun. Very few options in Oz. Dewalt doesn't offer this one locally, but the skin tool from the US would be cost effective for me.

Does anyone have experience with this gun?

Kev.

This is woodworking forum , the garage forum is down the hall.  [tongue]

Seriously though , check out garage journal as I'm guessing few around here wrench their cars enough to warrant a powered grease gun.

I would be curious about that myself. Just greased up our shop CNC today and it has quite a few zerks some a little awkard to reach and pump a grease gun at the same time.

I have a case 1845c skidsteer and a Caterpillar 312 excavator and the dewalt grease gun is one of the best things I've bought in a while.  Greaseing the excavator uses about two tubes of grease and this thing gets it done so much faster. Also if you have a fitting that is clogged this gun will open it up like nothing. If you have to use a grease gun a lot, just buy it. You'll really appreciate what it does.

It does allow you to focus on pushing the fitting tight and the gun pumps very quickly. The sling is very handy and the hose is pretty long which allows you to get into tough places.  I wish I bought it a long time ago.

. You're living in a rarified environment where grease fittings are actually provided.... Seriously, on modern cars and SUVs, they are basically non- existent.... [mad]
I use to own a pneumatic grease gun, it gathered dust and I sold it.... [embarassed]
I guess Heavy Equipment and Lawn Care Equipment are the last holdouts..... [big grin]

I use mine all the time.  It's only job is to grease my John Deere 4052M that used to take 20 minutes to grease with the manual pump.  With the Dewalt 20v gun it takes 20 seconds.

It pumps grease fast!  The only issue is that it pumps grease fast :)  ....this can be a problem because you can blow seals.

Thanks all. I've ordered one from a US seller on Ebay and have been notified that it's shipped. Now I'm hoping all goes well [smile]

I was going to mention that too!  Some times they have a sealed double row ball bearing with a center grease hole with a groove in the bearing pocket for the grease to travel or a single sealed bearing with a external seal.  Either way one can blow them right out! [mad]

It is very easy to over-grease CNC type slides. We have machines that can carry one tone loads and travel at 2500 inches per minute all day machining cast iron and we grease them once every six months. Blowing out seals is very easy to do.

That coupler looks great, but too bulky for some of the fittings on my skid steer. You have to stick the end through 1 inch holes on some of the handraulic rams so I'd have to grab the old manual jobber for those 6 or so fittings.  But one thing I noticed with the coupler that came with the dewalt was that it rarely leaked grease while pumping. And the ones that leaked most likely needed new zerks anyway.  The two manual pumps I've always used required a lot of hand pressure to keep from leaking, but not the dewalts I found. Maybe it will wear out with time but it makes a really tight connection. But I'm gonna try that coupler, thanks for the idea.

Some tractors have a lot of grease fittings. Our prep every day of cutting grain was to pump an entire tube of grease into each combine. I SO wished I would have had a cordless grease gun for the field.
