It's giving me the creeps, I've got a growing list of tools, I'm wanting to get some order in the growing inventory. It's time for a little sortainer, systainer puzzling..
First off now that I've got all these centrotec bits, I was looking at the way the centrotec installer is setup in a sys 2 , it has to be on the top of the stack or in a drawer in order to be able to get to the bits, plus it's divided into two levels within the Systainer, what do you do with the top layers when you've removed them, in the picture they appear to float in the air at the sides of the systainer..
So I'm specullating about the best way to organize things and it seems to me that systainers with attics combined with sortainers could work out well. the tool with it's attic systainers would be at the top of the stack, then the sortainers perhaps a sort 4 underneath it. These will be mixed and matched after job type, so the finishing sander systainer could be combined with a sort 4 with abrasives in the bottom drawer, cloths and brushes in medium drawer, files, rasps or shaping tools in the small drawers..
The drill systainer with the attic lid will have bit's in the top, a short level say 250mm level or laser level in the bottom compartment with the drill. A sort nine could have various screws rawlplugs, more bits..measuring/marking tools, dowels, wooden plugs, kregpocket screw gear, jigs etc.
My OF 1010 with it's classic systainer which will be changed for a Systainer 3 with attic lid to hold some bits and in the bottom compartment som additional accesories. I think I only have a few router bits for this tool so they may fit in the attic lid..
When I get the OF 2200 it would be good to pair it with a Sort 4 using the bottom drawer for MFS 400, the top three drawers for bits and additional task related gear. layout measure tools etc..
So generally what I'm envisioning is several two or three element "stacks" comprised of the the power tool systainer, the sortainer with accesories or bits, and perhaps a toolbox with various sized job related tools and consumables that can be easily added to or exchanged. I get tool box 2s..I speculate that in most cases this design makes more sense then the closed lid toolboxes. There are enough lids on the Systainers as it is now! These three elements made up of; Tool Systainers, Sortainers, Toolboxes and consumable Systainers, either on a Sys-Roll maybe which perhaps could have 2x 3 element stacks together under trasnport, then divide them up onto Sys-Carts or into my homemade workcenter in the shop or at the worksite.
Tentative list:
Abrasive systainers x2 I have: 125mm RO (metabo) 90mm (metabo) and a 98x175mm RS 300 Festool, 125mm grinder metabo
Sys-3 Sortainer 4 x2 for router bits, larger handtools square, hammer etc.
Sys-3 Sortainer 9 x2 for carvex blades/screws, handtools etc.
Tool box 2x 2 for TS 75 blades, glue, hammers, chisels, smaller paint/oil cans etc.
Systainer Attic x2 (I already have one with PDC 18)
Sys-Roll x1... eventually x2
Sys-Cart x1...eventually x2
2 self built work centers...
I'd rather go with 3 unit stacks Sortainer/ToolSystainer/Toolbox like this than go with self built shelving units. The three unit stack are light enough to lift and move around so I can remain mobile and organized.. I think the Sys-Roll is maxed out at around 8 or 9 T-loc 1's so with the two Sys bases I should have everthying ready to move yet organized.
Just some sorting out the bits and pieces type of thoughts..
I want to remain mobile and yet organized..
I think I'll go for the Sort 4 x2 and Sort 9 x1. the Toolbox 2x1 and the Sysroll x1 first..
