Original Price on ATF Saw/Guiderail

great post-

This would be great just to see what the dollar/economy has done since the 80's, when the atf 65 was introduced.

Oh, a old scanned catalog would be brilliant.

I am curious about the ATF55.  At the same time I bought my big shop machinery, the dealer offered me the Festool at a discounted price. It was new, but the owner exchanged for the new model, the TS 55. I only paid $250 and I know that the  retail price was a lot more.

This came up because a used one just sold on eBay for $186. Sort of beat-up, and missing the guide rail.

My question was really all about preserving my investment. Out of curiosity mostly, I go dumpster diving on eBay from time to time, and look at the going rate for Festool equipment I already own. The value of the ATF 55 became a question because the one I bought new was second-hand.  I never knew the full retail price. Mine was unused but second owner. The guy traded it in because the new TS 55 was released shortly after his purchase. I paid $250 for the complete package, which included the Systainer and a 55" Guiderail.

On about Thursday, a beat-up ATF55 sold on eBay for $186.50. It came with no guiderail. When I didn't get an answer here on this forum, I sent an email to my Festool dealer. Who knows everything. He told me the new selling price for the package in 2005  was $410. That tells me that the ATF 55 remains prime real estate. Good news to hear.

Hi Gary.

A little over a year ago, I purchased a new TS-75 saw.  At that time I sold my old AFT-55 for $225 via the Canadian Woodworking forum.  The saw had been used A LOT but was in good working order  For the $225 the guy who bought my saw and picked it up at my shop received three blades but no rail.

OK, Frank, you keep records on everything. What did you pay for your atf55 and when did you buy it?  ;)

Hi Greg.  :)

Yes, you are correct that I keep extensive records and notes.  I purchased the ATF-55 in early 2004 and, at that time, the price in US dollars was $375 for the saw plus rail.
