The good the bad and the really nasty [mad]

The Good. I've got mavericks on an external disk.
The bad. I need to use snow leopard for my main OS as Eudora will not run on any later system.

The downgraded iWorks programs that are available free for Maverics will only sinc with the latest Numbers v2, Pages v2, and Keynote v2 on IOS iPads

The really nasty is that if I upgrade my iPad apps then I'm forced to use Maverics on my desktop to access the files.
Also if I open any file in iCloud from any computer it is converted into the new format so once again I'm forced to use the downgraded Maverics apps

I hope that I've made the situation clear.

My recommendation at the moment is to be really sure you want the changes you will have to accept before getting the new Pages, Numbers, and Keynote programs on either IOS or OS 10.9 as there is no easy way back.

As a side note those problems have made me gunshy about updating iPhoto on my iPad as I'm not sure I'll still be able to sinc with the older version on my desktop Mac.

If you've upgraded iPhoto an iPad and not installed Maverics please comment.

I updated everything on mac, iPad and iPhone.  I'm pretty happy with all the new features.

Curious... what does Eudora give you in terms of email functionality that you can't get with other mail programs?

Unfortunately I think you are right that if you upgrade your devices, you'll need to update the mac as well to get them to sync properly.

I'm not sure why you need to stick with Eudora unless you or your company have made custom plug-ins.  But a possible option would be to get Parallels desktop and run Windows in it to use the Windows version of Eudora.  Definitely a sledgehammer-to-drive-a-finishing-nail approach, but you may already have access to Parallels through a corporate license or something.  Just tossing it out there.  There are also free VMs that can run Windows although Parallels coherency mode is an amazing integration.

I might have gone down that route my self but for the need to keep 10.6.8 as my main OS for email. However what I've been hearing about the Mac versions and the massive reduction in function I'm glad I didn't

From what I hear the page layout ability in Pages has disappeared completely and, instead of having a capable Mac version of the suit and an IOS version with a subset of functions, Apple has cut the functions from the desktop apps that weren't on the IOS ones

The reason I need to keep using Eudora is that I have about 12 new classes of up to 20 students each every 6 months. My e-mail is kept sorted by giving each class of students a different email address. So incoming mail is then filtered into the 12 corresponding mailboxes and has an automatic reply confirming receipt.

As far as I know Eudora is the only mail client that is able to send from any email address without setting up a separate account for that address.

As the meekings.net, meekings.biz, and meekings.info domains belong to me I have an unlimited supply of email addresses. I can, and often do, give a different e-mail address to different people.

I almost always give a different e-mail address to every company that needs my address. The reason for that is if the company sells my address and I start getting spam I can easly block the spam address without any effect on any other mail

I've got Parallels and only use it for Cut List Pro. But that wouldn't work anyway as you can't buy Eudora any more.

The Eudora I'm using and talking about is the full paid Qualcomm version not the emasculated free version that the Mozilla group took over.
