Our New Group Space!

Festool could do at least a couple of things to greatly reduce any charges that would be incurred by a Canadian winner.  That is, they could mark on the package that it is gift and they could ship by regualr postal service rather than using a courier.  The regualr postal service is much better about fees.

Another thing they could do is arrange to have the tool shipped by the Canadian Festool distributor (Hafele).

Nevertheless, to avoid all these potential problems, I will submit my entry with a USA address.

I continue to tweak the rules of the raffle, to avoid any headaches!

Code:
1. This raffle is sponsored by Festool USA, and the company will handle shipment of the Dominoes.  The company has limited participation to members residing in the United States and Canada only.
2. Forum administrators and Festool sales agents (ISAs) may not participate.
3. To be entered in the raffle, you must register as a member of the new Festool Owners Group, which is located at www.festoolownersgroup.com.
4. You must join the new group by 12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time on [date changes with each raffle].
5. As your official entry form, send an e-mail to matthewschenker@festoolownersgroup.com.
6. Type "Raffle Entry" (no quotes) as the subject line of your e-mail.
7. The body of the e-mail must contain your name, address, and telephone number.
8. Only one winner per household.
9. You only need to enter once to be considered for all five Domino raffles.

My Gawd I feel like a kid again.

I never evah get excited about anything....'till now.

I could not imagine actually winning something I really

want and need.

I am Fesdrooling.

I expect that the winner must provide an address in the USA because I don't think that Festool USA is allowed to ship to addresses outside the United States (in particular, in my case, to Canada).  Or is this a worldwide Festool constest with the appropriate Festool distributor in each country providing the Domino?

Mathew, will you check with Festool about this please?
Frank,

I was thinking this raffle should be limited to New Hampshire. :)

I was thinking Bucks County PA and Northern New Jersey right around where Per lives, but Matt can certainly add New Hampshire to the list....

Matthew,

Just the fact that we have a real message board with with real message editors, html, ubb, etc makes it worth while.....now if you can only change the colors to lime green :)

I just changed the settings to show everyone as "Member," no matter how many posts you have.

Many thanks, Matthew.

Bill and Jim,

I'm sorry to inform you that there is an upcoming rule ("10b") that clearly states that the raffle is only open to people who live just east of Seattle, are under 5' 8" tall and have two minature white poodles!  Matthew and I are finalizing the wording even as we speak (uh... write.)  You'll see it posted shortly.  Tomorrow at the latest.

Dan.

Well, you have all shared some very interesting ideas for rules, especially the most recent ones!  We could really open this thing up with some creativity and make it very interesting indeed.

I did get an answer from Festool USA about shipping to Canada.  It clears up the questions our friends in Canada were asking about.  Rather than paraphrase the letter, I'll quote it here:

Matthew,

I saw the question on the forum regarding possible shipments to Canada. We will take care of the shipping, no matter where we ship. A Canadian winner wouldn't have to pay any customs or other fees. They will get it free to their door like US customers.

That is great!  Thankyou Christian.

Now, all I need to do is to win.

Mathew, rather than you responding to each note telling people who enter the contest that they are in, I suggeast that you place a sticky note at the top of a thread and update it from time to time with the names of those who are going to be in the next draw.

Hi All,
I just activated the forum's calendar function.  It automatically notes people's birthdays (if you enter your birthday in your profile), and other regular holidays.

Members can use the calendar to post events like woodworking shows, or something else of interest.  From the calendar, you also have the option of posting a message to the group about the event.

If you want, take a moment to toy around with this feature.  Access it with the link at the top of the screen.  It's to the right of the "MY MESSAGES" link.

Just letting you know!

Thanks,
Matthew Schenker

Matthew,

It looks great, but it's listing my age incorrectly!  It says 60!  Let's see 1947...  So 2007 minus 1947 is uhh....  Arrgh!!!!    :'(

Well at least I still know a great forum when I see one!  ;D

Dan.

Hello All,
It's the night before we go public, right on my original schedule for 1/22/07.

You have all been extremely helpful over the past few days in getting this effort underway.  I'm proud to have such intelligent members willing to devote their valuable time, thought, and energy to this project!  There's no way that I, on my own, could have thought of everything you've all contributed.

One last major addition to this forum is a set of rules and etiquette I added today.  Of course, this might have to be expanded in the coming weeks and months, but I hope this is a good start.

I wanted to create something that is different from the typical forum rules we see everywhere, something that encourages personality and lively thinking, while also maintaining control.

The rules and etiquette post is located in the "Frequently Asked Questions" area.

Here's a link:

Tomorrow's the big day!

Stay in touch,

IT'S DONE!!
The new group, and the raffle, have been announced at the Yahoo site.
Thanks again everyone for your help getting this whole project launched.
Sincerely,
Matthew Schenker

All Members,
This topic is now locked.  The whole discussion is being preserved here if anyone wants to go back and review  the original discussions that took place during the formation of the Festool Owners Group.
Thanks,
Matthew Schenker

Everyone,
This topic has been a "locked sticky" for a while.  But I think it's time to let it float, so it no longer occupies the top position.
Thanks,
Matthew
