Painting Doors using HVLP

How about this one which I remember watching and now see a comment from you?

Yes, that is an example of how it can be done. As mentioned, horizontally where possible...with shelves or other parts laid out. And a thoughtful approach to getting the passes in the box without loading inside corners.

It can be done, and there is a lot of bang for buck with these units if used wisely. There are better ways for cabinets though.

I should not have put Scott (sorry about that Scott) on the spot about the extension and just gone and looked myself. Here is a link to the Graco page that shows two extensions.

The first generation hand held were blow and go, I used one but never owned one. Could not see the advantage to them.

I have the Fine Finish gun which is 3-4 generations removed form the one Scott first tested and the one I used years ago. With practice this gun should work for applying a good finish on casework.

The handheld for finish is never my first choice. I got it because I had a run of painted cabinets to do.

No worries, Tom.

Yes, I followed your link and found the actual extension:

It's a little cumbersome looking for cabinet grade, but I can see pointing it up into soffets and such.

I have both of those extensions for my Graco Truecoat Plus II.  Even the short one is a bit stressful on ones wrist.  I've used it to spray fascia boards on my garage after some repairs.  The longer would be good for a higher ceiling.  I modified 24" model by eliminating the swivel at the spray tip end.  Both need touchy adjustment at the gun end swivel as if it's too loose, any quick movement causes it to move.
