I've accepted the fact that my shop and garage are no longer co-located.  Rather than truck that sucker up and down the stairs, I'm looking at getting a little pancake compressor for the purposes of use with the air nailers/staplers/pinners etc. What do you guys use?  I remember someone posting a pic of a cool set up in a systainter but can find it.  Anyway you pro's that depend on these things on the sites what would you get? I'm a US hobbyist.

Here's what I use.  It is really quiet which was important for me since it was going to be used primarily on site.  I've found that I use it in the shop quite a bit since my other compressor is so loud.  This little one has no problem keeping up with my brad nailer or pinner.

Yeah, every pancake compressor I've come across has been brutally loud. I'd look at something like the smaller Makita (MAC700) or the lighter weight DeWalt as suggested. Both are nearly quiet by comparison.

As a hobbyist, you might find this, or something similar, more convenient than a compressor. I haven't had a problem diriving pins or brads with it.

Hey guys, I use a Jac Pac for my pinner and brad nailer . It stores easily in a #2 systainer. It is very light weight, cost about $ 4.00 to refill at my local PAINT BALL store. We have never shot enough pins to use it all on a typical installation.
Good Luck

I use a Bostitch. I have had a regulator go out, but that is a cheap fix. I built a cabinet, and put the recepticle on a switch, and ran the air line through the cabinet. I don't need to open the doors now, and it really helps with sound.

Thanks for all the response and thanks for the link to the vid.  That was the one I was talking about.

ALOT! I can say that without it is hard to talk over it, and with it closed, you can hold a conversation, still hear it run, but definitely better.
