Im thinking of buying the parallel guides for my rails for those of you who use them already do you use the extra narrow strip cutting bridges ? I was thinking of just buying the wide lengths (fs pa) first and not buying the extensions yet.

I bought the kit and don't regret it because of the savings to buy both components at the same time.  I have not used the extensions yet.  I could have, but decided to just go ahead and use my table saw to eliminate the setup time on cutting just a few pieces.

I do really like the basic guides and feel that I will use the extensions at some time in the near future.

Buy the set to save the $ on your total purchase.  I didn't think I'd have much use for the extensions, but I used them right away to cut some long, narrow, tapered shims for a window.  Couldn't have done that job as well with any other tools.
 
You can also use the bridge section to make the basic parallel guides longer. It requires a few holes to be drilled. There is a thread around here somewhere that describes the modifications.

Interesting point.  Everything that I have read and watched emphasized adjusting for cutting parallel.  Your post was the first time I have heard about someone intentionally setting them to not cut parallel.  What a great application!  Wonder what time Bob Marino goes to bed?

I bought mine two weeks ago and thought the same, but knew the minute I did it I'd need it and cuss myself.  Got both and don't regret it. 
 
There is a great video on using the parallel guides on this board.  Get the extensions, you will be happy that you did the first time that you want to cut thin or narrow strips off of sheet goods or repetitive cuts on longer pieces.  Uniform cuts are a snap once you get the hang of them.
 
I've used the guides alot the last few weeks.  I used the extensions just the other day to cut what amounted 5" strips of 1/2" ply for drawers boxes.  It was an absolute breeze.  Actually the extensions help to balance the guides out so that they don't tip.  Because of that I'm thinking I'll just leave them on for now.
 
cheers guys , but i dont think we can buy them as a set here in the Uk i will check but i only see them seperate at 130 pound for the main bit and 80 pound for the extensions.
 
They are part if the promotion in the UK at the moment,I bought the set with the big bag,plenty of room for all you guide rail stuff,  well worth getting the whole 9 yards in one hits its cheaper......

Apart from extending the usable length to about 950mm.
FS-PA And FS-PV key mods
I have just used them to cut the tops off the double length systainer size 1, 2, 3, and 4 boxes

You can see the same setting is used in the ends and sides

So far I have made a total of 8 of the double length systainer size boxes

Cleanup on the mating faces was minimal. I can think of no other way I could have done this job. The box size is 800mm x 300mm

If I remember right. the strip was 1350mm long and had to be 4mm on one end and 6mm at the other.  Old buildings....

It is a devil to find and I knew where it was [eek], as I ordered them on Wednesday. Needed them Tuesday of course [wink] but such is the life of poor subbie ;D

I like the deal in part due to the fact you save on the cost of the bag, the list on it really is extracting the urine [sad]. What I wanted to do was keep all my accessories for the guide rails together for site use, the bag will do it and as a bonus it will free up my guide rail accessories systainer for use as a router bit systainer ;D ( it was going to be an addition to the T15 for drills and such but I have press ganged a mungo sys2 into that role [big grin])
I reckon the spaces provided for the Geckos, (that I really see no point in having) will be great storage spaces for other goodies.

Just challenged my dealer after your other post! Will find out tomorrow if he will be nice to me or if I need to find a new dealer ;D

i wonder if that price is wrong as everyone else is doing them for 250 plus vat. I have heard dealers can discount accesories more so it could be right.

What dealer do you use Rob ?
 
I bought mine from fixy the price is right and a superb service  as well

TTS in Ashford, their website is pants but the guys in store are helpful.
