Paslode IM65a

Evening all,

So i am thinking about getting a Paslode IM65a 2nd fix nailer.  I have quite a few big jobs coming up with fitting new MDF skirts and arcs throughout.  I always used to fix skirting with the old glue and screw method, but i keep on seeing people using nail guns to fix them.  Is this a better option, has anyone else become a convert from screws to nail gun?

I use mine almost every day and some times all day long.  The only flaw is on cold days the fuel needs to be warmed for it to fire properly.  After the nail gun is warm it will fire great the rest of the day.  Im very hard on the nailer and its held strong for the last 8 years.  I do use it professionally so it gets used a lot.  Its nice not having to pull out a compressor and hose.

Some people go for the straight version over the angled as the nails are cheaper, the bostich nailers are worth a look, always seem to get good reviews and are very reasonably priced.

I've pinned and glued skirting and architrave on jobs for years. The glue does the work and pins are often enough to tack it while the glue goes off.

I use a Bostitch 16g air nailer and a senco pc1010 in a systainer.

Dewalt have just released a 16g battery nailer which looks good. I've got their 1st fix gun which is great.

Tyler, what do you use yours for mainly, skirting and arc?

Doug,  will have a look into the Bostich nailers.  Im not sure i can justify the Paslode price tag.

I use mine for interior trim and exterior boxing.  Its awesome for crown not having to deal with a hose.  I recently used it for installing a ipe ceiling in a bathroom.  I have it in a sys3 with all my nails and accessories.
