Does anyone have any experience with this? This is related to my post about the Dewalt trimmer and my move away from gas powered lawn tools. We have a small Bearcat that we've beat to death and "when" it runs it does a fine job but it is loud and the neighbors really don't appreciate us "doing our own yardwork"... that's supposed to be hired out!

Anyway, same desire here is to have a tool that is simply flip the switch and go. Honestly I've also been spoiled by our Leaf and $16.00 utility bill as well :-)

Advice appreciated! Thanks.

Mark, I noticed there are a fairly large number of reviews on Amazon, mostly favorable but with some caveats what it's best use is.

Mark,

I can't comment on this particular model directly, but I have a gas powered one that uses a very similar heavy duty arrangement for the chippers and shredding blade.  It works well and I'm very happy with it.  This one looks like a smaller version with the electric motor instead of gas, but keep in mind that mine has a 9HP motor on it so it can power through stuff with ease.  It looks like the guts of the Patriot are heavy duty, but I just don't know how well the electric motor will work.  The one thing I noticed when using mine is that it works better chopping up green branches then older dry ones that have gotten harder.  I put leaves and really small branches through the large chute with no problems.

Hope this helps.

My wife wanted a shredder and we were looking for one at yard sales. Same one with 1.5 Baldor electric motor. Looked brand new when we bought it, $100.00. There is a learning curve when shredding leafs. Once you get the hang of how to feed it sucks them right in. As far as small branches I would not recommend, to slow. I have not checked the chipping blades though. The shredding knifes are different. Good luck. MARK
