PDC end of line/Replacement?

I may have missed something here,  but the PDC drill and kits seem to have disappeared from our Australian Fe$tool online store. They're still about in some of the resellers, but nothing direct.

Does anyone know if it's been phased out, and if so is there a replacement planned? I'm thinking of getting the impact driver, and a drill/driver combo kit makes the most sense in terms of value. I already have the T18.

Been replaced by the Festool TPC.

New motor, gearbox, and accepts all of festool's chucks from all previous drill (not the CXS/TXS)

yeah but you can't even get this drill now for some reason in other countries.  the festool site says "currently not available".  Wish it would come to the USA.

"2020" is still affecting the world.  This is but one of its effects, unfortunately.

we have a tpc with a tid kit in the uk, but its currently unavalable.  my bank account is probably jumping for joy.......

the kit is not cheep in any sence of the word...

The new TPC looks nice.  I even like the standard issue belt clip too.

Bern, of all the Festool products available I have the most difficulty seeing the drills as a justifiable purchase but that is just me. I bought two PDC drills (Protool) when they held a fire sale and they are excellent pieces of kit but at the advertised price prior to that I would not have bought them. I generally do not criticise Festool pricing but this comes close.

It's a pretty nice tool, and I'm tempted to replace my trusty old De Walt flexvolt, which is a bit agricultural - great if you want to get medieval on something's arse, but not much finesse.

When I looked at prices, if I went for a driver kit (driver+ batts + charger) = AU$879; getting a driver + drill kit =AU$999 - so I'd  effectively get the drill for $120.

I already have a T18, so thought the PDC might be an option, but the kit (576491) disappeared from the website. Now I know why.

I have three 18V batteries, and two chargers, so I could just get the bare driver, or, as I'm not in a desperate hurry, I may just hang on and see if the next promotion has anything in it - due in January, but of course that will be after Fe$tool's annual price rort!

I'm another who has held off on the drills. The belt clips haven't helped with that radge flippy out contraption seeming like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder designed it after a heavy session on the spirits.
I'm sure the drills are ok and all but they never seemed twice as good as everything else to justify the price.

The saws have always been good and I have a few of them but I'll not buy everything they make just to colour match the boxes.

I'd like to have a good look at the impact cos that looks like a goer though.

I’m never trying to justify the cost of festool drills to anyone. You can do the job with a cheaper drill no question. But festool drills are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of comfort, control and finesse. It’s night and day, and differing opinions come from either inexperience (either with woodworking or festool drills specifically) or a desire to have the most powerful drill available.

My festool drills are among the first Festools I would replace. The impact is lovely, and I bought mine because festool is my main battery platform, but honestly, having now used it next to a couple of friends brushless Makita options, I find the Makitas slightly nicer in a way I can’t actually put my finger on. Smoother/quieter. . I’m not sure, but I liked them more. Not enough to care, the TID18 is still lovely.  Festool drills are No1 though!

I appreciate both the TID 18 as well as the Makita 18V impact.  For me, the thing that leans me towards the Makita is that it fits my hand just a bit better than the TID.  It's hard to explain, but the Makita just cradles into my thumb in a way that's more comfortable than the TID.

It wasn't enough to keep me from getting a TID, but if I'm going to be using an impact for an extended period, I'll reach for the Makita from a comfort perspective.  Also, the Makita came with so many extra batteries that I was able to buy a Makita leaf blower bare tool instead of in a kit.
