"Peanut 2" mini jig and connectors vs Domino connectors

I was going to get the Domino connector set (KV-SYS D8 for the DF500).  I like the fact that it is designed to work with the DF500 and inherits all the speed/accuracy of the Domino system generally, but also saw some mixed reviews of it (a bit fiddly, quite expensive, visible connectors).

I saw the Peanut 2 mini-jig and connector system in an Axminster store and it looks neat. It would be about £100 less to buy as a kit compared to the Domino connector, and the fixings themselves are about 1/10 of the price. But it looks potentially fiddly.

Just wondering if anyone has used this and the Domino connectors, and how did they compare?

(My main use would be building knock-down furniture that would use Dominos on permanent joints and knock-down fixings between sections.)

It is only as strong as a conventional screw into the edge of plywood, MDF, particle board, etc.  Which is not that strong at all.

I would have to see some pull out data.  As a “clamping method for dowels or dominoes, OK.  But there are simpler systems around.

It looks interesting and I can see it would be useful in some situations, but to me the results don't outweigh the added complexity.

I have the system, and have built a few projects around them, mainly carcasses that need to be assembled on site due to accessibility constraints and for a knock down mini router table and a oscillating sander table I built for a Porter cable drum sander , both which I need to flat pack when not in use. It is a bit of a learning curve I grant you that , but it has a place in my shop, one that I wish I had like twenty years ago. As to the suggestion that the peanuts are  no better than screws I disagree. These peanuts not only are very strong but also concealed when assembled and with glue more than adequate to hold carcasses together without visible connectors

I recently took advantage of some really cheap (relatively speaking, it is Festool we're talking about) clearance stock of the DF700 connector sets, and they are just fantastic. I'll be using them heavily on some builds later this year. The drawback to them though is the minimum thickness requirement. When the DF500 sets are on special at some point I might get a couple of them then.

I still don't like the complexity of the Peanut, although like any tool it's a matter of getting used to it, but one thing that's really got me thinking, is on Ebay they sell the dirt cheap clone Lamello Zeta P2 Tenso, Clamax, and Divario connectors, I don't have the Zeta but I ordered some of the connectors to play with as I'm seriously thinking of getting it at some point, and they look the bomb!

Those are some seriously useful connectors for aiding glueups and ease of assembly.
