After paralyzing myself with this decision, I decided to start with the DTS as my foray into the detail sanders..Picked it up today, not that it's that riveting, but there is just something amazing about cracking that systainer and see that delicious little gem sitting waiting for me to have at it!!

crap! My pics are sideways. Sorry!

Anyway...Can someone explain why the round sanders come with enough sandpaper to allow you to come screaming out of the gate and the DTS only comes with ONE piece of Brilliant? Kinda stinks..

Ha ha, I know what you mean. Luv this little sander and luv opening a new systainer of goodies. Like xmas to me. Been used heeaaps and still goes great, easy to use and light as. But the power switch now is getting hard to switch on/off. Think the screws needs loosening somewhere on it I think...something I must go and check.
Yes, I too was a bit down about the lack of abrasives it comes with, do think it's something Festool could remedy easy enough by supplying a starter pack with it at least, but nevertheless its a winner in my book.

Well said..I agree, this is a winner of a sander..I am using it now and enjoying every stroke. What a gem. Gonna really put it to the test this weekend and get some experience under my belt with it and will report what I think. So far, I think I made the right decision on getting this instead of the ETS125, although it was a tight race at the cash register. Other than the investment in new paper I am thrilled so far.

The dts is my favorite sander ever, I refinish floors, so mine get used all the time.  I own 6 of them.  Bought 4 at the last refurb sale.  It was my first festool ever, and I still use that one more than any other.  It dear to my heart I guess. Great sander, you will love it.

Skids nice choice buddy ! [thumbs up]

Definitely report back after you put it thru some sheets of paper.  Enjoy!

I got mine for Christmas and haven't got a chance to use it yet.  I thoroughly enjoy the new car smell they have when you buy them new

You gotta take that baby for a ride..Smooth as silk. I can't believe how nice it's making my face frames look on my wainscot job.

Yups, nice choice, you won't be disappointed. The ETS is a nice sander too, but I think the DTS adds a lot more value, flexibility and possebilities to your range. Remember that it needs a break in period of at least 8 hours before you get its full power.

Full day with this sander and I am smitten..It is a standout in the Festool line up without a doubt, absolute performer. I am in love, and already thinking ahead of where I can use it next. It's just a pleasure to use.

Still have alot ahead of it for this wainscot project..I will say early observation on sandpapers; while using Granat for just about everything with my other sander prior to this, I am taking a real shine to the Brilliant with the DTS, not sure why. I put Granat on it but like the performance of the Brilliant more..Maybe it's the material I am working with, but I find the Brilliant works very well with this sander.

The sander is pure pleasure to work with. I can get it soooo many small obscure areas, and it does a superb job with the finish. I can't wait to get paint on this to see the results, I am sure they will be spectacularly smooth and consistent.
