Should have some more pictures of this job in a few days, but this should do for now.  Not your typical traditional style that one sees everyday down south.  The client is a hoot and very fun to work with.  Underneath the hood is colored glass which also runs along the entire sink elevation.  More pics of that to follow as well.

No shiny tools here, just shiny cabinets.

I like the modern kitchen but that extraction hood is a bit overkill isn't it ?

What is the small screen to the left of the basin ?

Woodguy, the hood is absurdly large.  I had to build the darn thing, then they wrapped it in stainless and delivered it back to the site.  It took six of us to hang it.

The small screen is a lighted magnifying mirror.

Very nice work.

One question: what is the the glossy material for the doors?--melamine, or maybe some Formica-type laminate?

Thanks,

It's high gloss thermofoil.  Very few cabinet companies do a high loss paint, and it becomes cost prohibitive.

Hi  Jon,
Nice work.  Can you elaborate on the LED lighting on the short floating shelves by the hood?  I'd like to use the same concept in a hanging bookshelf project.  Details on the light strips, electronics, wiring, etc. would be very useful.  Thanks.

Brad, it's low voltage LED tape.  I routed a 5/8 wide by 1/4 deep channel so the tape would be recessed.  I'm not sure of the brand as it was supplied by the builder.  There are a ton of options out there now, it's becoming quite popular.  Just do a quick google search and you should have no problem finding one you like.

Here's another application of the led lights

Jon, very nice look kitchen.  BTW, I find Armor All works great for bringing back the shine to those tired looking Festools. [tongue]

Brice, I hope you know it's all in good fun!  I've said before I have found myself wiping down my tools at the end of the day whilst cursing your name under my breath!

Just found out that a lot of the cabinet installs I've done in a builders houses are in Houzz.  Every cabinet seen in pages 1-9 I've  put in.  Also gives you a feel for Lowcountry homes.

Thanks Tim, the scope of work spans a couple of years (at least).  I've said it before and I'll say it again.  I'm very fortunate to be working in homes like these.  This particular builder has said to the designer (Bryan Reiss of Distincive Design) and myself that we are the only subcontractor that he does not have to think about.  We're "automatic" in his eyes.  I take great pride in providing that kind of service to builders and its nice that it is noticed.

As an aside, I always have my Sirius boombox playing somewhat loud on installs.  Not obnoxiously loud, but close.  The builder amd his interior designer say that when they pull up to the jobsite and hear the radio, they actually take comfort in hearing the radio because they know I'm on site!  :)

Jon:
That's what we all aim for, clients that love us! Excellent.
