We started a Japanese garden on the homestead - and started with pergola feature.

Post and beam construction, and other than the drill press for the through mortise on the 6X6's; all Festool.

The half  laps and dado joints were done with the TS55, cleaned up with a chisel.  The rafters and the angle braces were shaped with a Trion jigsaw, and any saw marks were buffed with a Rotex.  A 1010 router softened the edges.

This is a New Yankee Workshop plan, over-built, and will outlast all of us 3 to 1.

A very enjoyable project.

Warm regards,

Brett

Nice project.  What are the dimensions?  What species?  And is your avatar a picture of Bon Jovi?

Hi Chris;

The upper lattice is 162" X 120" Wide.  The rafter are 144" across.  The "footprint" is 120" X 78."

I used pressure treated Doug fir - that's what they have at the local stores.  Hard for me to get my hands on nice cedar or redwood.  Or pressure treated southern yellow pine is what was recommended - but I live as far from the south as one can be.  And yes, the Mrs. is a huge Bon Jovi enthusiast.

Things came out square and level - I love Festool.

Later,

Brett
