If Anyone is in the Philadelphia Market can you put me in contact with someone or a store that sells KEM Aqua? I have tried the West Chester, Paoli, Newtown Square, Springfield, Wayne  Stores and even the Mantua, Pitman NJ stores without any luck. I specifically target pro based stores but I’m getting the run around!

Thanks!!

Thanks! How does it normally work? Do I have to go there and get it or do they ship it to a local SW store? The store you linked me to seems to be the closest, it would be an hour plus ride but totally worth it for the right system for my cabinets!

It’s the KEM Aqua Plus right? Also they can be pigmented?

I’ve read so much about KEM on here and elsewhere, just realized I haven’t seen anything other then white!

Kem Aqua Plus, yes.

It can be tinted, there are 3 different glosses.

It comes in clear, 4 different sheens.

Shipping may be a issue this time of year due to freezing.

The store that Tom linked you to is the one I’ve been using for the past year. They definitely have the KA+ products. Not sure if they will ship or not, give them a call, they answered all my questions before I even went to the store. Good luck.

Tom, Thanks for all of your help. Im quickly realizing I dont know as much as a I thought I did about Kem. They arent open yet but I plan on calling the store you linked me to. Without sounding like to much of an idiot on the phone. I know these are generally sold in 5gallons, Can they do Gallons? the primer base is only sold in 5 gallons (i know that)

I only need the base coat, color coat and clear for cabinets right? or is it strong enough with just the color coat? For the Fuji minimite i should spray it with retarder right? (does SW product finishes have it?) It seems I should use a 1.4 tip with a 1.8 cap right?

Thanks Much!

Thanks! Did that store offer gallons?

Yes they will break it down into gallons and they are able to tint them by the gallon also.
Let me give a little tip, when I opened my account with them I used my “business name”, and I get a great price per gallon, I think it’s about $40. Otherwise I think my initial quote was around $65. And if they ask if your using a commercial spray booth, just answer yes. Maybe it’s a little dishonest, but they are trying to cover themselves also.

It's a finish store, they can pour off what you need. Tint only what you need.

Surfacer should be used. Kem Aqua Plus is self priming. I don't believe in any self priming, use the Surfacer.

Color coat can be stain or pigmented. If you stain, you'll use the clear product over it. If it is pigmented, the color is in it. You do not need a clear over the pigmented. There are times I clear over the pigmented based on the abuse I think it will see.

Being a finish store they have special products that allows them to blend colors a regular store cannot. Sometimes you will get a pigmented that use a clear as a base, other times you'll get pigmented that used the white as a base.

Surfacer I use a 1.0 or 1.3, whites a 1.0, clears an 0.8. Check the viscosity to decide which air cap set. Temperature affects viscosity, sometimes placing the gallon in warm water solves issues.

Retarder slows the process, you'll have to spray some to see if you need it. I use General Finish Extender.

PM me your number.

I just used KA+ on a project. I know one store in Philly that stocks it and another in Bucks that will get it shipped in. They actually have to get it in 4 gal boxes so they still have two primers and two finish left over from me.
