Planex and ro90

I am about to buy a planex with ctn autoclean and am wanting to get the ro90 sander as well but planex is a 36mm suction and ro90 is a 27 bt I want to keep it a 36 end for the planex is there an adaptor that goes on the ro90 to make that I to a 36 as I do  [crying]

First, welcome to the FOG!  Using a 36mm hose for the RO90 is way overkill.  You will need to turn down the suction anyway with the 27mm hose let alone the 36 and the 36 will make using the RO90 more awkward.

You can get many dealers to make up a short 2 foot adapter hose to step down from the larger 36mm hose to the smaller 27mm end on the RO90.  Bob Marino made one up for me (BobMarinosBestTools.com)

I made my own version that is pretty identical to the ones Bob makes.  One thing you may need is a 1-1/4" copper connector sleeve to tighten the connection between the 36mm hoes and the 27mm reduction whip.  Any of the big box stores carry the connector.

Am I correct in thinking there's a 36mm > 27mm hose adapter in Europe? If not, someone can probably provide a link to make your own.

That adapter is for permanent attachment to the hose. Not good if you want to switch all the time.

Following 36 to 27 mm adapter was recently mentioned here on the FOG. Not a Festool product but from Nilfisk-Alto, who make most of Festool's vacuum accessories.

I think it's better to use a 18" (450mm) whip of 27mm hose than to try to couple a 36mm hose to the RO 90.  The 27mm whip gives far more flexibility than the 36mm hose.  The 1-1/4" copper coupling snugs up the connection between the 27mm hose end and the 36mm hose end quite nicely.

I get the logic, but that is way heavier and a lot more expensive.

I think the additional flexibility balances any additional cost.  The minor weight differential is inconsequential as I see it, and is suspended from the boom arm.
