Planex for removing heavy plaster texture?

I have seen videos of the Planex removing popcorn ceilings with relative ease. I'm buying an investment property, built in 1940, that has heavy plaster texture on the walls. I would like to remove as much texture as possible prior to skim coating. Will the Planex accomplish this task? I also have a Renofix but am worried that may be too aggressive. I would appreciate any thoughts on this subject.

These questions are so job specific and vary greatly because of different materials used. Grab some 40 or 80 grit and see how much it comes off by hand or with your ETS. Planex isn't like a rotex but it's more than a 5mm orbit. The sandpaper does the removal anyway, the machine makes it faster.

It's going to be a pain regardless as you're working with arms above your head for prolonged periods
