This will probably only be of interest to anyone who lays wood floors,i used my Sikabond Dispenser 5400 today for the first time,i`ve had it over a month, but this was the first job worthwhile using it on,basically,it`s a pneumatic glue gun,the room was 6m long and it put down enough glue to lay 3 rows of 5inch wide oak in less than a minute,it`s a bit heavy but really easy to use,i`d definately recommend it if you do a lot of bigger areas

Handy tool. But, what kind of floor can it be used on? Laminate only or thicker? Can it be used on 3/4" wood floors or tile too?

Yeah Sikabond can be used for most floors usually around 15 to 18mm thick we lay, engineered or solid. I saw those guns very clever good if youre laying huge floors like school gyms etc

I could of done with that to day!  Just did some oak engineered flooring with sika bond to day 8metre by 5 metre room!

Man 400/500quid da is an expensive applicator!

You're right, but it sure would speed up things especially on the big jobs. Wonder what the going rate quote is to do an entire gymnasium floor?

yes,it`s expensive for an applicator, which is why it took me ages to justify getting one,i usually use the liquid batten method, which works fine, but one thing i did notice, was the time and inconvenience saved ,just by loading 9 times the amount of adhesive in one go

i actually looked at one of those last week,i asked how much, they said about £500 and about £50 per sausage(but i did like the fact it was cordless),i also looked at the bona optispread, cos as a distributer i get the adhesive quite cheap, but they wanted over a grand just for the gun [scared]

What?!?!?  That gekko is £500 quid? No way I thought it was going to be like 200/300 quid at most!    I wont be buying that then for odd times I do flooring.  £50 per sausage also! Man rip!  how big the sausages?  Gotta be at least the size of my arm to justify the cost of them!

The sausages were only slightly bigger than the 1800ml sika, cos i asked if they would fit,but of course, only theirs fit, which makes them twice the price of sika, also,it only spreads enough for one row at a time.Oh,and apparrently they heads are diposable,to save you cleaning them(to keep you buying them, more like),if you only do the odd floor, the pneumatic bulk gun is probably best,£130,but it does save your hands from aching on a bigger job
