Yeah, every time I feel like I've become a good carpenter, I just flip through some Japanese joinery books or watch some of these videos and relearn my humility.

To think that they will use silk thread and ink like a chalkline and then use a handsaw to split the line is beyond my comprehension.  And skill level in this lifetime.

Only this week my brother dropped a sheet of slatwall on his big toe, three days later he's still limping. He was a little upset when I suggested safety footwear would have avoided unnecessary pain. (That's the polite less insulting version of what I actually said

I love these guys.  Watching them drop a 60+ foot beam in from a crane into sliding dovetails and it just slides in with a few mallet taps.  I have spent quality time watching these guys frame houses and I am not ashamed to admit it.
