Plug it cable for EHL 65

Just bought an EHL 65 and was surprised that it didn't have a plug it cable. Why can't festool retrofit them with the conversion kit (491145) in the factory? Phoned Festool UK and they assured me that fitting a conversion kit wouldn't invalidate the warranty, if done by someone qualified, so why can't they do it themselves? Maybe there are other older tools still in production that this applies to as well.

Yeah it annoyes me it does not have plug it lead same with the EHL850  and I want to buy the Ras which I believe does not have plug it either.

It kinda defeats this ''SYSTEM'' thing festool has.    I like when using my TS55 and Rotex I just have both tools on the work bench and a hose and lead to plug them into but then I get my EHL65 out and I gotta plug the dam thin in very annoying.

I couldn't give a rats' bottom about the plug it lead. When I just got my first Festools I thought it was a nice feature but these things break too much and are too damn expensive (€22!) to replace. Normal, steady powercords never bothered me and I don't see why they should bother anybody.

I fitted the "plug it" to my planer - was a great move.
I must still get around to doing that for my belt sander.
I have the cable and hose hanging from a hook over my MFT ... so it's really convenient to just plug in each of the tools ... which all rest on a shelf I built under the MFT.

I disagree cus in my experience (2 plug it leads)  its the plug end which goes into the socket in the wall where the cable has failed over time on my TS55 twice.

Same with my EHL65  and now my Kapex is doing it.

I have not had a single plug it fail on me yet.

another +1 for me.

My rotex is the old one without a plug-it, it gets annoying having to switch back and forth between the RO90 and old 150 or TS55.  It is just one more cord that gets tangled up.  This one stupid thing makes me always want to buy the new rotex.

I don't think I would buy a new Festool without a plug it.

+2 because that's the number of them I've retrofitted with PlugIts (RAS and RS2e... and a benchtop OSS)

I have the boom arm setup on the CT-22 so it's true switching isn't a big deal, but still annoying; everything works with the PlugIt pigtail on it (if the pigtail is of the appropriate gauge... so no OF-2200!)

Anything that would typically work with the boom arm should have plug-it connectivity.

Hmm... I recall there being a thread earlier this year where someone did a little write-up on changing the PlugIt-tail to an EHL65 - if I recall correctly it was a bit of a squeeze to get it fit into the machine so not suggested for the faint of heart. (Can't find the thread now)

I was going to buy the RS2e and the RAS. I want the Plug-it and the round dust port. Marcel charter a plane and we will fly over to the Festool factory with signs ( can't say anything terrorist-ic here ) and demand our requests be addressed. Or a cruise ship.  MARK

You English have different wall plugs then we have. Our type is the molded on Euro plug, which is never a problem, you've got these huge crate-like things you need a forklift for to haul around [tongue], and I can see why they would give you problems. Here, as with any tool, the cords always fail at the tool end, right at the point where they leave the tool and bend the most. With normal cords I'd just open the tool, cut of 15 cm of the cord and reinstall the same cord. This could be done quite a couple of times before you needed to replace the entire cord. But you can't do anything about the tool side of the plug-it cord, it's all molded or glued on. Only option is to replace the cord for €22 or the plug which is still €16. I buy, refurbish and sell used Festools and I don't know how many times I've had to replace the cord already, they fail so many times.

Same for the socket on the tool btw, they fail a lot too. There's enough threads on that here on the Fog.

Is that a Metric vote?!

Pre-adjusted for international vote exchange rates ...

Which is why I suggested that Herman the German does it before it leaves the factory - simples [wink]

I think they modeled them after their much-beloved phone booths.  Try to make everything into a Tardis.  [blink]

The only cord that ever failed on me was the one from the Kapex while i practically never manipulate or disconnect the cord, and the only other owner i know personally had it happen as well. No problems with pug it's, and it's a big reason why i sold most of my non festools because they were so annoying to connect and store when you get used to plug it.
I probably won't buy anything Festool with no plug it, or at the very least upgrade it personally

Unless you plan on using many Festools at the same time you shouldn't really be in dire need for purchasing new PlugIt power cables even if one breaks - heck every tool comes with one and you can only plug one (or two into a single VAC if you have the extra power outlet) and you only have two hands so I for example have five more unused and still factory rubber banded 'spares' in addition to the one permanently attached to my CTL26. Should last me a lifetime before I've gone and broken all six cables  [big grin]
So once they are all gone I think I can cough up 22€ for a seventh one  [popcorn]

I have a Plug-it cord Velcroed to my hose dangling from above.  It's very nice to have the power cord attached to the hose and not flopping around getting caught on stuff and tangled.  I have experienced those frustrations using my CEROS, which I do not have attached to a hose.  Huh.  I think I need to address that.

I have my hose & cord dangling from above too.
Nice idea with the velcro though - I think I'm going to borrow that.
