Plug-it connector. Is it repairable?

Hello everyone,

My TS55 went intermittent today, halfway through a critical job [mad] After having checked all of the obvious stuff, I discovered that the motor would run if the cord was bent just where it entered the connector, indicating a loose wire or fault inside the connector itself. I got the job finished by bending the cord round into a curve and fixing it to the Plug-it using duck tape in the classic get-out-of-jail fashion. The TS55 is the only tool I own which uses this connector, so swapping it out isn't an option.

Is it possible to get inside this connector to fix the fault? Or do I have to buy a whole new cord? I can already guess what the answer's going to be .....

Thanks very much in advance.
Kevin

Find some green duct tape, and nobody will know it's not factory  ;)  For what your time's worth, just buy a new cord.  They're really not easy to take apart.

The PN posted is the wrong end for a bad cord.  That part goes on the tool.  *** Bob was right, I was wrong.  Thanks Coen

IF you find that it's actually the tool socket gone bad- those are MUCH easier to fix than the cord.  Part from Ekat is under $10 US, and looks like this-

You can't repair them, everything is molded together.

In the past you could buy a replacement plug, but it was only slightly cheaper than a new cord. But they stopped selling those. You have to buy an entire new cord.

Nope. See here:https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/...ou-wanted-to-know-about-plug-its-conversions-(usa-version)/

But 489685 isn't sold anymore.

Plug-It cords are sometimes sold cheap by dealers who got their Festool tools on display stolen.... the stolen tools themselves are those "New Festool / machine only / no cord / no box" ads on your local used goods market place...

There are some YouTube videos about 'repairing' broken PlugIt cords with different degrees of questionable stuff.

I have seen one repaired and it is still working but I didn't do it. The Festool rep was astounded someone even tried to repair one as he had never seen it done.
