I'm sure nobody here needs convincing of the benefits of the plug-it cord :)

After a lot of deliberation I finally did it. I cut the cord off my jigsaw and soldered on a plug-it connector.  [unsure]
Process was a bit fiddly but I got it and still works like a champ! Couldn't be happier I don't have switch the power cords all the time. Best of both worlds as they say.

So if you've got some non-plug-it leads aways laying in the way, go fot it!

Heading that way myself. I also "imported" a couple replacement cord ends and located a 2-wire extension cord in the proper color, now I have an 8 meter custom cord.

He's working on that too, becvause his plan is to make an 8 meter high wall to keep the Atlantic out from now on. (I know, RMW, not funny).

OUCH!

In actuality we just learned that our home, constructed about 1' above the base flood elevation (BFE) in effect 3 years ago is now about 1' below the post-Sandy BFE the governor just adopted. To make things worse we are now deemed to be in the V (Velocity) Zone, meaning that any future construction need to be built on pilings with break-away walls. The net effect is unknown but most likely our $500/year flood insurance premium will increase by many (perhaps many-many) thousands of dollars. Possibly enough to force us to sell.

Premiums were set to rise anyway since congress mandated that the NFIP become self-sustaining over the next few years, & I do not expect my fellow tax-payers to subsidize my choices/risks. The issue for us is that they moved the goal posts and I can't comply with the driven pilings if I wanted to.

Many of our neighbors have it worse, they might have been able to squeak by if they just had to raise the house and increase the height of the existing block foundations walls. Now they are in a catch-22 where they were forced out of their homes, cannot obtain permits to rebuild without complying with the new regulations, and it is impractical//impossible to drive pilings under an existing house. A lot of them will never be able to return to their homes, especially sad since our closest neighbors are in their 70's/80's/90's.

The Atlantic Wall may be the most practical option...

Since you guys have 110v you'll need the Festool Plug It Conversion Kit 110v part #494910 I believe.
I won't place any links to any shops. But I'm sure you guys can find one that's also willing to ship to you. If all else fails you could ask some of the British lads to do so.

You cut and strip a bit off the end of the power cord. Strip the cord of the plug it connector and simply solder them together.
You can also go a bit further like I did to place to connecter closer to the tool. But that takes some more work. Don't forget to insulate the wires. Not much to it really and you get a big increase in user friendliness :)

By doing this you might void your warranty. I'm personally not worried or bothered by it, but worth mentioning.

I just checked on Amazon UK - item is 18£, but the seller wants 45.5£ to send it over here!

I could use one for my mt55 as well.....so when is someone going send some over?

Where did you get the plug it connector?

I want to convert an OF2200

I cannot see any expension leads anywhere with a plug-it socket.

I would want to know the amperage rating of the Plug it connector before putting one on the Of2200. I always assumed that was the reason Festool excluded it on their larger tools.

Jonathan,

Just wanted to show you my MT55 Plug-it conversion. I've ordered Festool piece 491716 to get a completely integrated plugit on the Mafell. So far it works excellent, very sturdy, do think about securing the part a bit more with a glue or something like that.

All it took so far was to drill the tiny holes to make room for the small thingies. Obviously placement was critical but it didn't take more than 10 minutes total.
I've done the same thing for my Virutex FR156N trim router. http://shop.jvl-europe.com/Virutex-edge-trimmer-FR156N/en

Jonathan, could you tell me please if the opening on the jigsaw is the same size as on the MT55? I'm going to order the jigsaw this week and would like to get the same plugit as I've done on the MT55 but the diameter of the opening is critical.

Many thanks in advance! B.
