Plug-It Hand Power Tools, i.e. Drill

I still own two Milwaukee Holeshooter drills that are practically new and use their Quik Cord and have 6 and 26' cords. One is a 1/4" high speed that I replaced the chuck for a larger capacity and a 1/2". I to use the chuck e them with a bracket that clamps to the worktop in order to use the chuck horizontally, much like a horizontal mortiser.

The issue with cordless tools is I can't recommend them to anyone b/c of the limitations imposed by the battery system.

There is a very good deal on ridgid cordless tools at home depot right now: $150 for three brushless tools and two batteries. The tools are, by many measures, excellent. I have a friend whom I'd recommend these too as a starter set, but I can't b/c I'm not sure I can recommend the ridgid battery system.

Manufacturers need to rip the bandaid off and get on board with universal batteries. I wish Festool and Stihl would join the ampshare battery system... or any battery system really, one for 18v, one for 12v.

That would be nice yes.

I’m in the, about to get involved in the Festool System place in life. And have decided if the tool needs dust extraction, it needs the detachable cord.
And the cord should match the length of the hose.
Drills and the like can have batteries.

For me, balance is an issue. So tools that would get top heavy with a battery make more sense to me corded. Drills are great cordless (edit). More maneuverable and no balance issues, at least for what I do.

I got the cordless TS 55 and love that I no longer am stepping on the cord and jamming things up. No balance issues here either.

Having one plug it cord at my mft and plugging it and the dust hose into the corded tools is real convenient, which is why I was surprised to find out that Festool has two different plug it cords and some compatibility issues (sheesh).

Still hoping for hose-less dust extraction.
