Pneumatic nailers with removable nails?

Does such thing exist?
I'd love to use pneumatic nailers for temporary holding, like for gluing pieces of wood together or similar. I'd love to have a possibility to remove the nails latter, once they completed their mission. With regular nails it's not easy. Would be great if I could find a nail variation which is easy to catch and extract. I hate to have unnecessary metal pieces in final products.

You could try using a pin nailer and leaving the pins proud. I've never done it but it may work.

That does work sometimes. But if the stock is thick and the pins are more than say 1” long they can be pretty hard to pull out and tend to snap.

Does your current nail gun have a plastic tip? Maybe buy a replacement and glue a shim or block of wood to it. It could take some playing around, but I'd imagine if you drilled a 1/16" hole in the wood block it'd be safer that say holding the gun off the surface and firing [big grin]

Metabo makes a duplex nail gun I believe, but I think we're talking a little more finesse.

My brother-in-law's brother used to be a stage hand building stage sets for Broadway shows.  As you would imagine the construction techniques did not stand up to close scrutiny. 

One technique they used was to build framing using double headed nails.  These nails allowed the carpenter to drive them all the way home and still easily remove them.

Fastcap makes a blind nail kit that might work for smaller items.  I have never seen small double headed nails.  But they might exist.

The porter cable hinge and strike plate mortising jigs for doors come with small duplex nails, though I don't know where to get replacements.

I just cut a strip of plywood, put a v notch in the end then nail through the notch.
That means the brad nail sticks out by about the thickness of the bit of ply.
I've been doing that to help while scribing backmolds for door casings for years.
