What happened to the Cadex compressor in the Systainer? I know The Tool Nut was set up to sell them, now you don't see it there.

Thanks Peter, that definitely shed light on the subject. I originally started the post after having problems with two brand new Grex 23g nailers. They both jammed up using their longest capacity nail. Send the first one in for repair and it came back with the same problem. Was beginning to think it was user error, but I checked everything and was within Grex recommendations. So I bought a Cadex nailer yesterday and had remembered seeing the compressor in the systainer.

That is strange, ashttps://www.festool-group.com/ still lists schneider-airsystems on the bottom.

But anyway, compressor in systainer is available from schneider - and it works nicely (I have one).
The one in the linked topic is advertised to be less noisy (68 instead of 89 of the SysMaster), but it dosn't seem to be available (when the SysMaster is) yet - at least here in Europe.

As for Nail guns Festool apparently has no plans for them at the moment. A German rep I talked with today said the nail guns were quite complex and that part of the market was nothing they had looked into. They seemed to be behind the curve on the rapid transition of nail guns - especially 18V nail guns that seem to have taken a huge gouge out of the compressor market. The Rep was very interested in knowing the other markets and was shown a Senco Fusion Nail gun - he had not even heard of Senco and after a Demo and round up of the market offerings I could tell that ze Germans need a little bit of reading up on the subject.

He seemed very impressed with the current offerings.

Do they just not use nail guns very much in Germany?  Seems odd that the rep would be so unfamiliar with them.

I think they don't use them in 2nd fix to any great extent.

He only knew of Paslode (!) and when I informed him about Bosch, Makita, Hitachi, Milwaukee 18V units and then handed him a Senco Fusion 18V he seemed very impressed and took photos of the unit. I told him of my personal experience with three brands and he seemed to pay attention to that. He asked how we are using it and when told the number of shots per charge and that the gas canister was a sealed unit he seemed very impressed. The Senco has less than 40 moving parts inside which he also seemed impressed with.
I told him about my five year stint with the Senco - not a single jam as I can remember.

He was more of a joiner himself, more so than a framer/builder and seemed to think the market was pretty much all large Paslode units.

Only few know everything about everything.

But at least he was keen to learn more about something he dosn't, yet, as you described it - possibly he already forgot more about a different area than three of us combined would be able to learn in total...

...except his job _is_ knowing about machines, their use and the competitors offerings. He should know more about machines than I do. His knowledge about Mafell was not too good either. When talking about the HKC55 he mentioned that the Mafell patent on the Cross Cut Rail had expired and that gave Festool a chance to enter that category (his words) but when talking about the Mafell rail system he got several things wrong, claiming that the machines could only use one rail (some machines can use cross cut rail, Flexirail, FSN rail AND Festool rails...) and that you had to buy different machines for different rails.

I did not bother to correct him on that though, maybe I should have.

I do agree with you - I don't expect factory rep's to know everything about everything - that would be asking too much. I was a bit surprised at the gaps in the knowledge though, during our 30-40 min talk it was apparent that there was a lot of things in the market he did not grasp or know of. And I am not thinking that I necessarily know _too_much  [big grin].

I was a bit jealous of the plunge setting on the HKC55 - Festool made a good job on that. Better than Mafell on that solution.
