Hello!

I was wondering if there was an "official" recommendation from Festool regarding the cleaning of polishing pads/sponges.  Also, what do the rest of you Foggers recommend?

Thanks!

Andy

Andy, I'm not sure there's a good way to clean them. I would recommend you toss them in a zip lock bag to keep the pad/sponge from drying out completely and then just reuse them.

Eventually, they will need to be replaced.

Others may have better suggestions.

I usually have a bucket of warm soapy water standing by and as soon as I'm done polishing, I throw them in there to soak until I can can get to them.  Then just hand wash with warm water and some low sudsing detergent, rinse throroughly and air dry.

For the record, I do not use Festool polishing pads, but can't imagine that my cleaning process would be detrimental to the Festool pads.

OK everyone!

I have successfully (and very easily) washed the festool pad and re-used it with no problems whatsoever.

All I did was rinse the pad with warm water, liberally spray the pad with Simple Green, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and then finally rinsed again with warm water.  The Simple Green did a fantastic job and the pad almost looked like new.
