So, you guys might be aware of this product that's current NAINA that's called the Vac-Sys. It's a vacuum pump with various clamping modules that connect to it. The modules are able to articulate in all directions. Please watch the videos below to see more about what it is and what it does. In the past, we were not able to bring this to the US/Canada for various reasons but we have renewed our efforts and want to gauge interest level. I do not have pricing information, which I'm sure some of you might want to know. I can only say that it's the equivalent of about $1200USD in other countries with one round clamp included.

Please take a moment to vote in the poll at the beginning of the thread to show your level of interest in this product.

Thank you!

How does it come standard? Are there descriptions of the basic unit plus accessories? Is your estimated pricing for a basic unit that would require purchase of other attachments to hold different sizes and shapes of wood?

I've seen it in videos before and it seems like an extremely useful and versatile holding device but it would depend on the basic tool sold and whether that basic tool was able to be purchased so that it could be used out of the box with small pieces as well as larger (not table top size, but larger as shown in the video).

Vacuum pump & clamp together cost € 1.248,72 over here.

So about $1700 USD? Would it be of any use without the clamp? Seems like a very useful tool but, for $1700 I don't know. . . .

Hmmm....

So, UL approval wasn't possible before. Now it is a possibility. Sounds like it might have been re-designed with UL approval in mind.

Does that mean there's possibly going to be a revised version of it? T-Loc, anyone? [scratch chin]

Sorry, let me revise. Around $1200USD on the high side I would think with the one round clamp. Of course, that's subject to change and I'm just ballparking it.

Alex, in Europe you have 19% VAT which isn't applicable here.

This would be a US/Canada specific model. No revision to the existing model in other countries to the bests of my knowledge, if we proceed that is.

I have always had interest in this Shane... but to a price.  If it cost 1,700. I most certainly would raise an eyebrow.

If it is less than that, i will have to do my usual Festool pacing until I talk myself into it.  Would be VERY useful on some of the sheet good work and Kitchen door projects.

Cheers.  Bryan.

It's the one Festool product that I don't have that I've been sorely tempted to have a friend in Germany bring over.

Ever since I saw the videos I've wanted one. For dominoes. For routing. For sanding.

And watching it again makes me think that with two and one MFT/3, you've got a door bench.

I'll start saving now so I can be first in line.

I would be a very interesting accessory to have for anybody who does a lot of edge banding without the assistance of bench top machine. I would buy it in conjunction with the Conturo for that reason as it would increase the production rate.

Bryan, again, I am speculating at this point. There's nothing in stone. But, I feel confident it wouldn't be that high. I feel comfortable saying around $1200USD for the vacuum pump unit and a single clamp unit (with the foot pedal). The other clamp heads would be separate or could be bought as a set.

No ETA, this is just gauging interest to decide whether to move forward or not.

+1!

Shane, ever since seeing it in Festool training videos, have wanted one.  Less than $1200 as described would make it more palatable, but at $1200, as a retired person, and a hobbyist, it would not be an immediate purchase - would take saving up.

Also, as a hobbyist, I may not be your primary demographic.

I really, really like this devise and for the correct price I would have to scratch my head and figure out where I'm going to get space to install this helpful fixture.  If the price came in at the $1200 range for a set that would allow me to work with flat panels and individual boards, I would be in the market.

I have a vacuum pump that I use for lathe work. It would be interesting to be able to buy the platform w/o the pump. That would lower the cost to what makes sense for me as a serious hobby woodworker.

Pretty sure the clamp unit is available separately in Europe.

I saw that several years ago at end user class and was interested in it.  I know there are a few over here; a certain lady has one in Wisconsin.  Why not let us all get one?

Thanks Shane...  I know nothing is set in stone...  I am a realist.

I will wait for my "welcome to the Festool beta program" email...

;)
