Poop closets, yay or nay?

For us commoners indoor plumbing is all we need....

Why does anyone want go into a tiny space? How are you suppose to lay on the ground ready to puke again while you're at 10,000 degrees internally and appreciating the hell out of the cold floor...

The best is both.

Small, dedicated, toilet with as little space as needed, just for a small washing basin. Here even common with just cold water and single tap.

Then a "combined" bathroom with lots of space.

If you are really bad, you will appreciate the rest of family does not need to watch you all the time. At same, you get two functional items available which can be used in parallel.

My rating is:
1) dedicated closet + combined bathroom
2) dedicated closet + simple bathroom (no toilet)
3) combined bathroom

I will take 2) any day over 3). But will never take 2) over 1) if there is a choice.

We have the room in a room toilet in the master suite of the home we're building now.  It's 3' wide and 6' deep with it's own vent fan.  I can take it or leave it as we're retired and don't have kids.  I suppose if we did have kids it might be good to have a place to hide from them.

Mine is 1 meter x 2 meter and I think that size is just fine for the activities I need to do there. A good vomit session doesn't require much space either, though I prefer to do that in my bathroom when the opportunity presents itself.

However I'm for swedish style bathrooms for cleaning purposes...

Only if it located at top of steps. Then the peasants can come up the steps to bring you gifts.

I've thought a few times having a throne on top of a domicile with 360* windows (not low windows) would be amazing to use in the morning. Might have to be a reserved for middle of woods type concept....

My friends used to live in an old farmhouse that had its toilet installed up 1 1/2 steps in the bathroom next to the shower.  I have a feeling the whole floor was raised to make room for the drainage when the tub was converted to a shower stall, since it was a really old (relatively speaking for the US MidWest) house.  "Throne room" was a frequent joke around that setup amongst our circle of friends, for sure.

To me "poop"    "closet"  sounds like someone did a really bad job of building a closet.  [wink]

    How about a regular bathroom with a door that locks and everyone else can just stay out, and wait their turn. Or use the 'other' bathroom if available?  [blink]

In my first house which was built in 1905 the main bathroom had separate rooms for the toilet and the tub and pedestal sink.

The toilet room had only the toilet and a small radiator that hung on the wall. The toilet was set to the outside wall with a small leaded glass window in the room similar to the one in the photo. The toilet room was only about 3.5 feet wide and about 10 feet deep. It had a door leading out into the hallway and another door that connected to the tub room which you can see in the photo. The toilet room in on the other side of the wall where the radiator is in this photo. I don't have a photo of the toilet room. But it was tiled to match this room. Didn't make much sense since you had no lavatory sink with the toilet so you had to access the other room anyway. To the right of the radiator is the door between the two rooms. We never changed it as the house is in a historic district and we wanted to keep it original but it was a weird setup.
