Portable Parallel Guides Storage?

Greetings!

My parallel guides and extensions are loose and bouncing around my storage area, which can't be good for them.

I'm hoping to figure out a portable container.
(Usually, that means someone else here has already figured out a brilliant solution.)

I've seen short rifle cases used, but it would be nice to stay in the family for connectivity and transport (that is, a systainer or such).

Is an XXL systainer overkill?

Thank you!

Is anything really "overkill"?

But seriously, I too have thought about that. Wish they made an XXL137 or 187 - sure would be able to accommodate some of my other tools.

TSO sells a Foam insert for in a Systainer. But that is only up to the 20" tracks. The 30" doesn't even fit diagonally in a L-sized Systainer.

Festool used to sell a bag for their parallel guide system. But I can't find it anymore. Or I might be mistaken completely. They definitely did sell some fat long bag with a bunch of rail accessories in it.

I was thinking of putting mine (TSO version) in a PVC tube (sewer pipe) for a more transportable option vs the cardboard box it comes it. That will also take an insane amount of abuse.

With that in mind, I wonder if one the FSK bags might suffice.

I have the biggest FSK bag. But it will just freely float around in there without modification.

Just further thought exercise to go overboard - maybe an XXL 337 with inserts to fit the TS55/60, ABSA, parallel guides, extensions, extra blades, dust bag, track square?

A complete track saw kit in one!

Might even be enough space for the earbuds, t-shirt and extra cap.

Metabo Metaboxes come in a longer size and system has some compatibility with Systainers. There's also an adapter plate that allows Systainers and other brands of boxes used in Europe to stack on Metaboxes. You'd have to scrutinize the system to see if/how it would work for you combined with what you have now. Adapter hardware can also be found on 3D printing file sites for making your own adapters for mixing box systems.

I bought a Systainer L toolbox and find it useful for throwing things from the shop in and grabbing to go do this or that specific task.

If the FSK bag doesn't work, you might try the tripod bag for sys lite duo.

Also, if your "storage area" has a wall, there are 3D printed wall mounts. Try Black Raptor Tools or Tool Curve. If it's a van or truck wall, I'm sure a bungee cord, a nice green color of course, could hold them from bounces, swings, and other movement.

Mine are in kaizen foam in a drawer. I have to assemble and disassemble them every time I use them. But c'est la vie.

Yeah, they did make a big bag. Could fit P/guides, rails, clamps, Geckos and a fair bit of other gear in it. Very hard to find now, has been discontinued for years.Screenshot_20250609_195643_Samsung Internet.jpg

Yeah that one! It was pricey and not very practical. I didn't sell well either.

That's pretty cool, I've never seen it. Looks like it holds just about everything rail related, along with some space for extras.

oh man getting flashbacks. i remember some discussion it was a photography studio lighting gear bag. or some people used them instead. getting hazy

I made wood hooks at the front of my shop-built MFT-style tables that keep the track handy while using the table. At other times, I used 1/4” diameter fiberglass pultrusion to hold the track vertically against the wall. You don’t want to use a steel hook as it will end up distorting the hanger hole and the track may not sit flat on the surface as a result.

The bright colored “snow marker” shafts are a cheap source of those pultrusions.

I purchased a cheap rifle hardcase from Amazon which works quite well for my 50" and 30" guides, with it's included egg crate foam.

Speaking of pricey and not too practical - something like this might work.

BTW, I own and use ThinkTank gear. It's very good and very durable. I've taken their bags all across the world while traveling and shooting. But like Festool, it's not inexpensive.

When I needed a travel case for my tripod and light stands and also my lighting umbrellas, I bought a folding chair that came with a long zipper canvas carry case. Heavy duty and durable, it easily fit my equipment but was about 4’ long.

As an added bonus, it came with a free chair. About $30.00. I just checked. Still available at that price from Walmart.
