In an effort to not innocently pollute other threads, and also to consolidate thoughts and reactions to the new version, how about we make it easy and put them in this thread?

Peter

Hate it, Too busy with all the colors, hard to read. Does not flow nice like the old version. Money wasted on this.

A biggie:

My privacy settings were reset to "share everythings", basically.

@Festool USA
Please consider to review and adjust privacy defaults for new and/or migrated users to be more restrictive. The current defaults are WIDE-OPEN and most users will not notice this unless looking ... which may be late as that data will be data-mined by 3rd parties by then ..

Frankly, I do not see how FUSA gains by enabling user profile data-mining so this would be an oversight if anything.

Proposal:
At a minimum, all profile data privacy defaults should be set to Members-Only. I advise to also reset this for all existing users as a post-migration FIX action.

Having been a member for ages it is disconcerting that I have been relegated to "new member".
Also, I guess the new format is optimised for certain devices, but it looks lik sh*t on a laptop or desktop. Way too much real estate wasted.

I like it overall. It looks good on an iPad, some wasted space on a desktop but still pretty good in my opinion. Well done to everyone who worked on it, it must have been a massive task and I think a lot of us missed not being able to access it for the last few days.

I completely agree about the slightly garish colours. As this seems to be owned/sponsored by Festool USA it would be really cool if the default member icon colours could be random tints of the Festool colour palette, but maybe this is asking a bit much!

As much as I like "if it ain't broke don't fix it", I think overall it's pretty good in my books. Migrating something as convoluted and old as the prior forum couldn't have been easy. I did notice at least one lengthy thread of appears to have disappeared but it's a nice modernisation.

Please reduce the amount of text in the lengthy disclaimer at the bottom of the screen. This takes up about half of the screen on my iPhone.

I had to come back to add that I'm loving how much snappier the picture loading is! Sensational work there!

Sorry, but it really took 3+ days for this. Less intuitive, Sticky threads are not separated. Overall a step in the wrong direction. Festool probably saved a couple of grand on hosting the forum with no concern for the users.

All members are listed as new members, perhaps this is something that can be changed thru the settings at the admin level. There are some bugs and configurations to still be worked on.

Peter
If the "New member" title was simply replaced with the posts total...situation fixed.

Seems like all external links are broken? For example, if I google for something and a discussion here is part of the search results, then I click on that result, I get an error.

I like it - and it works just fine on my laptop and my phone. This forum is a huge resource and a deep well of knowledge across multiple facets of woodworking. Someone else paid to set it up, someone else pays for the maintenance and IT time taken to do stuff like this update, someone else pays for the server and the hosting, someone else moderates it. Members get all of that for free. But some folks still have the temerity to complain, poking around finding stuff to criticise. That's disappointing to me.

Get a grip, people.

With the old version there was the option of viewing threads by the latest entry, I can't seem to find that option now.
I don't know if I understand what you are saying, but all XenForo-based sites tend to operate the same. If you are logged in and click on the title of a thread that has unread posts, the software will open the thread at the first post you have not yet read. If you want to go to the last post in a thread, click on the time link at the far right of the thread title block.

There's a New Posts button at the top of the scroll. Swiping it way over to the right reveals a "Latest Activity" that can be bookmarked.

This certainly wasn’t a money saving tactic on Festool’s part. At least 4 Festool people, a consulting firm, and the software vendor all involved and the delay was all caused by the full movement of the sheer size of the database and its attachments. Thankfully I wasn’t part of that 😀
