power cords

I use my festool track saw hooked to a festool dust extractor quite often....when i switch from the track saw to my sander can I still use the same power cord?(track saw and sander have different cords).

yes

the only difference is the sanders power cords are light and more flexible , but yes you can use the saws thicker cord gauge for everything

Festoon uses a tang or 'ear' index on the ends of their cords to prevent the lighter/small gauge cords from being used in the higher wattage tools accidentally. The heavier gauge cords don't have this prevention feature since they're rated for all the tools they can easily power up as compared to the thin cords.
I'm sure someone will link up the neat pictures of the different Plug-It sockets to show this better than my poor wording.. [wink]

Here's the end of a heavier gauge plug-it cord:

And here's the end of a lighter gauge plug-it cord:

Notice the little 'triangle' shape on the bottom side of the lighter gauge plug-it cord? That's what prevents you from using it on a higher-draw tool, as it won't fit into the socket on any tool that ships with a heavier gauge cord, like your track saw.
