Nice, do you have any photos of what is under the lid of the powerstation? I have no need for it but just can't help myself with new Festool products.

Thanks,
Ben.

Everytime I see that "FEBQ" I think... why did they name a saw after the Febo (Dutch fast-food chain)... but then I see it's a Q.

How does the Powerstation do with statics on the hose?

Ben, no but I'll try and grab one next week,  not much space under there, room for a phone and USB cable that's about it. Its packed with cells!

Festool advise it must be used with the AS Antistatic hoses only.
Didnt notice any problems in use.
Tried it with the Sword saw in 180mm Green oak, kapex KS60 and TS55 all worked perfectly plus a 1.8KW Air compressor.
next week we are testing with some more "interesting tools"  [big grin]

"Cordless" kapex.. 8)

Interesting. What was the temperature and humidity?

Because the anti-static hose is ultimately connected to the ground of the extractor, then bled to earth via the earth rod of the installation. I just wonder how a battery pack can do something equal.

Ya I'd also be interested in how that happens. It seems like you'd be in an endless isolation loop.

This is what Festool state but I'll do some more digging:

"When using the SYS-PowerStation in conjunction with an mobile dust extractor, an extraction hose with antistatic function (AS) must be used. This minimises the effect of static charging and protects the user and machine from unwanted discharges."

Well, more surface area gives more ability to dissipate the charge, but still wonder what would happen if you cut EPS with it  [tongue]

IMO this is the same as with any battery operating tools.

The AS hose is only to ensure the whole "tool set" is at the same potential so it will not end up damaging itself but it by definitiona cannot address potential against ground which it is not connected to.

BTW, is there not an optional grounding connector on the PowerStation like there is usually on various generators ?

Not as far as i can see and they state it CANNOT be used with the TKS as it requires an earth to operate the saw stop.

But I'll try and get more info and just to be clear this is a pre-production version ...so more info and tweaks may appear.
But hope is of interest thought FOGers would like to see stuff first!

My first SYS Power Station test  [smile] -> youtube -  NářadíOnline.cz

That demo is super-impressive. I just wish it didn’t cost megabucks. It’s like 3 x the cost of a silent 4kw gas-powered generator [eek] With all the remote site work I do, I’d have bought one in a heartbeat until I saw the cost. There must be many others like me out there. What a shame.

How much is it?

It's on our site at £2349 plus VAT but we shall se what happens when they arrive...July now we've just heard .
They do have the full 3 year warranty but with higher £1000 theft payment.
