For the last month or so I've been working in metric and slowly getting used to it. Last week I had to measure a panel in imperial that was wider than my folding ruler. So I had to use my old Stanley measuring tape. I was struck by just how crude it was to make this measurement with the Stanley vs the Talmeter! I'm very surprised how a simple item like a retractable ruler can make a difference.
If you are working in metric, you should definitely check out the Talmeter rules. Tom carries them now on his website which makes them much easier to get here in the states. (But also much more evil because of the "gee, I might as well get this also while I'm here" effect.
If you haven't used one, check them out.
