Precision plate not aligning with holes

I have a 1080 MFT and just got my Precision Plate to mount the Incra LS to the 1080 and I'm finding that when the dogs are tightened to the Precision plate I cannot get the plate to drop into the holes.  It's off by just a "smidge" but won't drop into the holes even with trying to force it.  If I loosen the dogs it will drop in.  Wondered if you fellas who have the plate have the same results?

Have you dropped it in with the dogs loose & then tighten them before removing? If there is any play in the dog position this would tend to align them to the MFT.

The manufacturer may have provided a little play (slightly oversizing the M8 hole in the plate) on purpose to allow them to be adjusted.

Yes, I tightened them after the plate was inserted on the table and it seems pretty stable that way so maybe it's not a issue.  I will check it with the positioner inserted to see if there's any play.

sorry = do you have a picture or a link, please?

I googled Precision Plate and got a load of pictures of police riot gear, rucksacks...

Thanks.

Precision Plate v2.0

Anyone know what the difference is between the v1.0 and v2.0 plates?

I think the only difference is that there are more threaded holes on top for mounting other LS Positioners.

I have never had any issues with mine dropping into any hole combination on my MFT/3. Try doing it with just the plate (no LS attached) and see if it is any better.

Take a few measurements and see if it all lines up. If there is something off, get a hold of Jerry at Precision. He is a really good guy to work with!

Cheers. Bryan.

Does the older 1080 have 20mm holes at 96mm on centre?  See my previous post, I suspect that there might be something "off" here. Reach out to Jerry at Precision Dogs and run through it with him as well.

Jerry and I have conversed about the situation and it seems that with the 1080 you have to loosen the dogs to get it to mate to the holes.  The dogs do fit perfectly in the holes, it's just that the alignment of the dogs doesn't "reach far enough" between holes.  It's really close to going in and once I give the dogs a little "slop" the plate slides in perfect.  Once tightened there is absolutely no movement at all.  Everything seems to line up square so I'm going to run with it and see how it all works out.
