Preorder for DFC500?

Has anyone found a dealer that is accepting preorders for the DFC500 in the US? I thought it was being released in September or is this exclusive to Europe?

I bet somebody does a gray-market import.... not me (this time) I have no interest in cordless. The new corded model, with the new fence? Sure, I would like to get hands on one.
I don't know if it is really that big of a thing, for my reduced role. The DF700 might actually be of more use now.
I have wanted one for quite a while, but it was never really a need (at least enough to justify the $)

There's really nothing intrinsically wrong with the original DF 500 or 700. They both do the job they were assigned to do and still do it well.

I liken a DFC 500 to being an updated version of the DF 500 but it's certainly not a game changer. Just a more refined version of the original Domino. A cordless Domino that still needs to be connected to a dust extractor...so what is the advantage?

I think cordless with a dust hose would have one less thing to catch, snag, etc. Also, a hose being bigger seems to snag less, in my experience.

Still, I love my corded 500 and see no reason to spend on an upgrade.

What a disappointment that the new corded DF500 is still LED-less. Maybe my conspiracy theory is right: everything great will only be featured in the DF600 release!!! Hahaha!

Why would a DF500 need a LED? Most of the time you can't see where the mortice is going. What would it light up?

The light will help in the same way a LED does for a handheld router. When you use the scribe line on the DF fence to line up with a pencil line, the light improves accuracy. It is not about the mortising itself.

The new corded machine piqued my interest a little but as I already own a mint condition DF500q i don’t see any game changing upgrades.

The more robust fence and incremental improvements in other areas are great news, but very much minor evolution rather than revolution, as the new machine can’t actually accomplish anything that the old machine doesn’t already do, it’s just a refined version.

This is interesting as after all these years Festool hasn’t been able to innovate the core offering beyond what they designed 20+ years ago.

I guess because it was so dang good to begin with =-P (albeit they did have to fix that fence slip issue like 20 years ago)

Interesting...the new cordless DFC 500 E is the same price as the new corded DF 500 R, however, the DFC 500 still needs a $150 battery to do anything.
