Price Changes in April

I recently learned of some adjustments to the previously published price changes and have incorporated them in the lists I published at the beginning of this thread.

Please note that on batteries, chargers, etc..., there are some really significant differences in what was previously released.

Tom

That's big on the price differences with the batteries.  Glad they finally did that.  It was hard before to justify their battery prices vs others like bosch.

Whew!  That's awesome on the batteries and chargers.  [big grin]

I was getting ready to grit my teeth to buy a couple of TCL3 chargers and potentially some more batteries. Now it's a no-brainer and the prices are exceptionally low, though I do wonder what the new higher amp 18V batteries are going to cost when they become available.

Cheers,
Frank

That's a pretty crowded race. 'Seems like a good place to get run over...

Tom

I love that Tom.

Where we are with these prices and certainly where it's headed, I can't help but feel that Festool is going to find it very lonely at the top when no one can afford to buy....

At least they are not in the race to the bottom of price and quality.

Agreed...but as they increase the price gap compared to the competition, they may be opening a spot for rivals in between.  For example, if the choice is a Bosch glider miter saw at $650 or a Kapex at $1,450, that leaves a lot of room for someone to make a $1,000 saw.
Did you know that in Canada there is a $1049 price difference between the Bosch and the Kapex? Now I do like my Kapex a lot, but if I were too spend that much money on a new one I would not want to have anything wrong with the saw on opening the box. I think that with that large of price difference the Kapex should be manufactured to perfection. Everything square and level. Too many post on this FOG about problems with new Kapex's. Paying a preminum price for anything should result in an absolutely perfect product. Just my two cents worth.

Darn! I just bought the T18 + 3 Cordless Drill Set last week and was debating between it and the CXS. I opted for the more powerful model first, but should have waited a month.

[member=44686]reefwalker[/member] return it and get the cxs. Then pick up the t18 after the price drop. :)

I find it rather ironic that everyone seem to support the government idea that inflation is good for the country but gets very upset when it's the things they want to buy that go up in price ::)

i didnt notice this until the thread started to talk about cheaper drills.

  Item #    Description    2015    2014    Change    %
  564519    Cordless Drill C15 Li 4.2    $405.00      $460.00    -$55.00    -12.0%
  564520    Cordless Drill C15 Li 4.2 Set    $535.00      $585.00    -$50.00    -8.5%
  564521    Cordless Drill T15 Li 4.2    $405.00      $460.00    -$55.00    -12.0%
  564522    Cordless Drill T15 Li 4.2 Set    $535.00      $585.00    -$50.00    -8.5%
  564523    Cordless Drill T18 Li 4.2    $445.00      $510.00    -$65.00    -12.7%
  564524    Cordless Drill T18 Li 4.2 Set    $575.00      $635.00    -$60.00    -9.4%

NICE. as someone who has almost the whole festool line, i dont have drills.
i wonder if festools only price drop is reflecting this failure to sell drills?
and i have asked this on fog before, and the knee jerk reaction is always "i have one"
like you might be the 100 who actually own one, and the other knee jerk reaction is
"i love mine", like you wouldnt forgive some of the festools failings after buying it.

why would festool not just keep prices constant and open the 5.2 amp hour lineup
at a higher price? everything else went up, and rememeber the recondition sales
when these went the slowest at -10%, then -20% and then -40% and this line
of tools always were waiting to find the buyer?

i dont think this price increase was justified, but the actual jumps on consumables
makes sense, the euro is so low now its a joke, and this festool price jump tells
everyone where festool is NOT selling well, namely those with 0% or negative
price changes.@!

revealing, probably more than festool intended the users to see.

I think I'll do that. I did just spend a small fortune on a few other Festool products. I agree with others that with the strong Dollar vs. the Euro, there is little justification for a price increase. Other than this, I'm very happy with my "investment."  :)

Is the CXS going up? you're showing 0 increase, but toolnut is showing a $10 increase.

Thanks for the heads up Ice

Hey Tom

You left out the most important price info.......

Did the cost of the tacos go up?

Luckily, not yet, Ron.

But you might want to hurry - the neighborhood is getting more pricey. 'No telling what that'll do to tacos, BBQ, etc...

Austin's in kind of a weird place for a major TX city. As the oil price had slid, lots of people in the oil/gas and service industries are either getting laid off or taking early retirement packages. A lot of the people with significant bank accounts like to retire here. This latest round of RIFs and early retirements may actually cause upward pressure on real property in and around Austin???.

Tom

Grrrrrrrrrr that isn't good for me. Well maybe things will settle down by the time I get back. As long as they are not Calif prices.. I'm good.

I just realized that I forgot one of my traditional aspects of information with this post...

If I'm not mistaken, the average of the change is a 3.6% increase.

Ron, there's a reason why CA & NY people are flocking here... The prices still aren't even close. We also have better tacos... Not to mention, better BBQ. Oh, did I mention the other food? I spent a lot of time in CA and never had good Cajun food or Greek, or Vietnamese, or Italiano... and I spent a lot of time in Italy. From my observation in CA, you had to pay out the nose to have anything that was near to real. Perhaps I just didn't know where to go but the people I worked with that lived in CA didn't seem to know where to find real food? To me, that's a cultural problem.

I have a customer here, who owns a nationally celebrated restaurant that centers around Bacon! That's the sort of thing we do here...

Tom

Tom,  you mentioned bacon.  Now you will have the UK crowd coming too!  [welcome] to our foreign friends!

Peter

Peter (and our UK Brethren), I've had more than one satisfying breakfast in the UK with bacon, mushrooms, and eggs. Not all of their food is inedible... I was just geeking for a proper salsa. But that can happen here also.

The last time I was in the UK was toward the end of the last century. My understanding is that taste buds have become a little more worldly. I certainly hope so.

Tom -

Speaking of salsa, we've finally got a Chuys that opened near us. As soon as the snow lets up I can make a pilgrimage with the kids. Maybe I can even entice Rob to join in!

Best,
Steve

Although they took them off the menu, some locations will still create the stuffed sopapillas.  Definitely worth getting if they'll do it.  I prefer mine with beef fajita meat and the creamy tomatillo sauce.
