[Project 28] Black Limba and cherry custom home automation side table

[member=53094]jdm5[/member] you're absolutely right, I botched that up :)

I was planning on using the piece that I cut out from the top panel, but made a stupid mistake forgetting about the router bit. The router but I used to cut that out was a 1/2" shank and 1/2" diameter 2-flute straight bit, which - surprise surprise - took off 1/2" from each side when I was cutting it out. So of course it was too small to use.

And I only had 1 or 2 boards left of Black Limba from this project so it was what it was.

Don't worry though! I have a coaster holder coming, Made out of cherry, that incorporates a small succulent that my wife will buy, that will mostly cover that plate - and most importantly cover the key.

So you'll turn the succulent 90 degrees and it'll open (I'm going to epoxy the key into the bottom of the succulent).

Here's a sneak preview ... coming soon!

Matt

Oh yeah ..and I got a CNC machine last week. A tiny one. It only does 8" square by 3" tall pieces...but fun for this kind of thing..trying to learn it!

Hey Matt, you and the other Matt - [member=65062]DynaGlide[/member] - are inspiring a whole bunch of FOG readers with your work and projects.

Now I'm just waiting to see if Cheese finds himself challenged to show another one of his ingenious solutions to a self-selected challenge.

Keep it up!

Hans
