[member=66813]rmhinden[/member] thanks man! Hahaha yes she was exploring it. I think it still smelled like finish.
[member=2242]tallgrass[/member] thanks man! Good question. I probably could have used less. I was a little worried about the top. This was a lot of hard work for me and it was a really nice solid top, and I had to cut into it with Shaper! I didn't want to risk a bad cut and ruining the top just because I was being stingy on the tape. OK so with the larger router, GREAT point. I actually tried this. My hand router is a Festool OF1400. I installed a larger bit on it and here was the issue. The base of the OF1400 is significantly smaller than the base of the Shaper Origin. The Shaper Origin is quite large. I was a little worried about the router tipping inside of the pocket. Because the Festool router couldn't span the full 6" width, I was really worried it would tip. The Shaper Origin just barely smaller, was able to "ride" on the top or bottom of the 6" strip almost 100% of the time. Now obviously I could have been smart and routed the pocket in a spiral fashion from the inside, or something like that, to avoid this problem, but I was worried I'd get myself into a situation where I had to cut something out in the middle I missed. Anyways, it probably could have worked. I did though after this process order a flattening bit with 1" cut diameter from BitsBits with a 1/4" shank, for the Shaper. Shaper is underpowered for that bit but just turn the speed down and take shallow passes is my hope. I think it'll go way faster than the 1/4" bit I used.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] thank you sir! Thank you so much. You have a good eye. Those are two big points. I had to line up my round-over bits for the wife so she could choose. I did samples for her on a scrap. She really wanted the smallest possible round-over to keep the lines clean, exactly what you said. I think I went with a 1/4" radius IIRC. And yes the brace pieces were a big discussion with me and her. I ended up building it without them obviously, and we put it in the floor of the garage. I had her stand at one of the smaller ends with her feet firmly planted right next to the bottom of the legs. I then pushed towards and away from her from the opposite end of the table at the very top. The idea was for me to see if the table racked at all to decide if the braces were needed. It was rock solid. I think largely due to the double-domino joints and everything is glued (except the top of course) and that all the pieces are solid 1.5" thick.
Thanks so much everyone! Starting in the benches now...
