Like most people who start off there festool collection i was so amazed by the systainers and how they really bring something extra to the table when transporting. But as time has gone on I find myself using my tools more and more in the shop, and to be honest having to to always take 4 systainer off the one i need at the very bottom has become a chore that i dont want anymore. Ive seen alot of your guys custom sysport so i thought it time to get cracking on my own. At the moment time doesnt allow me to build them home i want to so i will wait till i do have the time. Ive been using 3D max for the past year now and find it great when designing some your not sure how will look when your done. So ive made up a few renderings of the sysport i plan on making in the near future. I would like to go the black route, ive just added a rending of it in white aswell just to help you guys see the design a bit better. I do admit though that i spent more time modeling the castors then i did the units themselfs....but i think its those little details that bring these renderings together.

Wayne,

Amazing!

Personally I like the dramatic black one.  Can't wait to see your finished project once you get the time.

Thanks Peter

Yes the black does it for me as well.......i dont remember where i saw it but i think festool or another company do make very large black and chrome sysports. Unless i was dreaming about it lol.

I don't think that you were dreaming.  I think that someone here built one complete with aluminum diamond plate drawer fronts and sides.

Mmmmm no i dont think i saw it on any post here.......i was looking up the dimensions for systainers and found a web site that sells them, Im pretty sure i saw the black sysport riiiiiiiiight at the bottom. It sells for about $4 600.00 or something crazy like that. Its big though, from what i saw it must take something like 30 sys 3 boxes i reckon. im going to try look for it now.

Haha lets convince them that carbon fiber cant compare with a good veneer and have them build a really eco friendly ( wooden ) racer.

Wayne,  [welcome]  +1 on the black color.  I'd like to see what it looks like with "Festool blue".  It's almost black.  Thanks for posting pictures.... and thanks for posting a link to that $4k systainer port too.  I must have that. [thanks]

I think it's most noticeable on the new drills, hopefully it'll show in the picture.

Ah i see what you mean now, I have seen this before just didnt register as blue to me for some reason. I'll set up the model to render over night and we can see then what the blue looks like. [big grin]

I've built three sysports in the last couple of months and thought about painting them black.  My old Kapex stand was black and the amount of dust that showed/accumulated on it drove me nuts.  For that reason I went with the standard Festool gray.

I was thinking essentially the same way - imagine how easily black will show sawdust - in a woodworking shop.  I suppose black would be fine if you really enjoy vacuuming your Sysports.  Mine is white!

I recommend making the drawers with shallow sides, fronts and backs, especially if you intend to roll the Sysports around your shop.
