Q&A for the SysLite LED Worklamp

The transformer 'wart' that plugs into mains socket is roughly  3 1/4" x 2" x 1 1/4" thick;
not including 3-pin plug thingy used in UK.

For 'spot' lighting I use a DeWalt 'snake-light' which I find really helpful
on (now) rare occasions.  When needed, it's the only thing that would easily work.

Even if a 'slip-over' lens could accurately turn such a diffuse (largish area) into a spot, it couldn't get the beam into places the snake-light can,
because of the size of the body. 

For me, the Syslite is pretty much perfect.  Would like that:
1/  three selectable light output levels available - purely to enhance battery life at lowest output - no big deal though.
2/  that it showed when internal battery, truly, fully charged - imho it most definitely does not.

Can get all manner of tripods anywhere that sells cameras and suchlike - can't see the point in Festool
supplying one.

Question:

Is the ac adapter just a cable, or does it have one of those annoying wall-warts on the end?

Suggestions:

1:  Offer some optional mounting stuff, like a tripod.

2:  It's great that the light is diffused, but there are times when you want a brighter, focused beam.  Offer some kind of optional shiled or driectional device, that clips on.

I'm selling a bench dog to mount the SysLite, or camera equipment.

I've been thinking of using the SysLite as a replacement to the standard 500-1000 watt halogen work lights, and have been wondering if anyone has taken the leap and how it's worked out. I mostly work in apartments so the spaces are small. What I'm hoping to find out is if they create an adequate amount of light relative to Halogen work lights, if they don't generate the same amount of heat, and they don't draw the same amount of power so I can run a vacuum or saw off the same circuit with out tripping a breaker. I'm pretty certain about that they are cooler and don't draw the same kind of power as halogens, but don't know if will throw off enough light. Thanks.

I am using one now... It works great in small spaces, working in cabinets, closets, attics, etc. I have used it in larger rooms for some supplemental lighting, it is bright but I'm not sure it would replace a halogen work lamp. Maybe if you had a few of them.

I took my Syslite camping all last week!
It's almost TOO bright - the best solution for me was to diffuse it through a 2.5 gallon water dispensing jug (we were car-camping).  Behind the jug, it was perfect for cooking and cleaning after dark, far superior in the light spread and color temperature to the old-school propane lantern!

I have two of them and use them with a pair of fluorescent lights as a replacement for a single 500w halogen.  I don't think my setup puts out as much light as the halogen, but is much more versatile as in getting light where you really need it. I recently did a job where I brought out the 500w halogen and it was definitely stronger than my setup.  Without my setup running though there would be shadows cast on everything I needed to see.    This is the first time I needed the halogen in quite a while.

One Syslite alone does not compare very well to a 500w halogen as far as sheer light output.

I have used my Syslite in the shop upon occasion.  I use it where the shoplites leave shadows wher shadows are not appreciated.  Long before there was Syslite, I bought one of those big halogen lites, used it one time.  I gave plenty of light, but the heat in my small shop space was somewhat frightening to me.  I never tried it again, but gave to my son for use when he has to work in the night on his excavating equipment.  He doesn't use it close to gasoline tanks or lines.

After having bought one a few months back, i found my self on Job today were the electrical had not been finished and the only light we had was from a doorway.

Knowing i need more than my 1 syslite would provide i headed back out to get a Halogen work light, but ended up coming back with another syslite.... why.

My reasoning was, yes i could buy the halogen or a Larger LED work light and have it fumble around in my small Van always getting in the way as others have in the past, it starts to annoy me so i leave it at home, i then get to a site and need light, where's the Halogen.... ohh left it at home!
Now with 2 Syslites they can pack aways easy in my Van, out of the way hence they will stay in my Van, plus they are Bright cordless when needed.

I'm finding more and more uses for my syslight everyday! I used it all weekend while painting and was amazed at the battery life while using the T15 battery on it.

I was using it on and off today while installing drywall and even had a visitor that liked it!

It's NOT, so watch the attitude, thank you.  All the ad says is that it mounts to "a tripod" with a 1/4" socket.  It doesn't say what specific threading.  It has to be 1/4" - 20 to fit a standard photography tripod.  

I am assuming that Kev was correct in his reply to me, which will be great as I have a number of photog tripods lying around.

I use my Syslite all the time with my Vivitar tripod (cheap).  It mounts on a quick release plate and then the plate snaps into the tripod.

One could also add a 1/4 x 20# bolt to a c-clamp or spring clamp and then mount the light as needed. It could then be attached to a work light stand pole or light bar.
