Hi,
This is a piccy frame made with QLD Maple with a Red Gum inlay.
The frame is 35.5 x 29 inches. The Maple is 88mm wide and 22mm deep. The Red Gum inlay is 19mm x 6mm. Finish is Scandinavian oil, sanded to 4000g using a Rotex RO150, ETS150/3 and a DTS400 . It will be waxed.
This one is going to Chicago, Ill. as a flat pack, so these pics are of a dry assembly.
Mitres were cut using a trouble free Kapex  ;D and the whole thing is held together with 6 x 40mm dominoes.

Regards,

Rob

In the past I used clamps like those band clamps, now I exclusively use these:

Ulmia

maestro

The Maestro are better.

I always like that Red Gum!

Nice contrast Rob!

Nick, we can send you a chunk of firewood anytime..... :D

Nick,

I have those Ulmia clamps. I bought them awhile ago.  I like them well enough but did not like the little "divots" they left in the material.

Short of using wood filler, did you ever discover a "work around" for that problem.

Rob did a great job.  I love contrasting woods, but I can never seem to decide which to use with what.
