I remember reading something about a T 18 coming out with a light, but can't find it.

Anyone know if and when this may be available in the US?

I haven't heard any time frame given. I love my T15 drills and I very rarely find they don't have the guts to job even the toughest jobs...but I'm intrigued be the idea of the T18.

there is an 18 volt cordless drill made by festools sister company called protool.
this drill cost me AU$900. you would think they could have stuck a light on it for that price........

regards, justin.

Same here. The T15 is sufficient 98% of the time unless the screws become really big. But my nephew bought the Protool 18v PDC 18-4 TEC Li not long ago and I have had some time to compare both drills, well, it is safe to say the Protool 18v is in an entirely different league. Not just a bit stronger but a lot stronger. And so much faster. 3800 rpm vs 1500 rpm.

I'm surely gonna check out the T18 when it arrives, but no one knows yet when. It doesn't come at the same time as all the other new Festools.

Considering how little Festool BRD seems to care about the American market I wouldn't hold off on buying a needed tool to wait for them. As others have mentioned, the T15 can handle pretty much most jobs. The only time I pull out the corded drill is for masonry, multiple hole saw holes or hole saw holes 3" or over. The T15 doesn't seem to mind 2.5" hole saws. 3" and it starts to cry a bit.
If Festool brought over a hammer drill, I'd stand in line for it. As a rule I avoid standing in line for anything.
Need to go back to my dealer tomorrow and take back that piece of crap light though. I had to fiddle with it right out of the package, then it worked only briefly. Put a new battery in it, still doesn't work. $20 shot. Have to see if it is under the 30 day policy. Anyone else have issues with theirs?

I just bought a new protool 18v PDC today...nice drill, only a fraction heavier and bigger then the DRC15, but it has a hammer mode.

4 gears, massive speed in 4th, huge torque in 1st and a hammer function all for 1.9KGs.

Its the PDC 18-4, I walked in looking for a blue bosch or a makita 18v drill and walked out the the protool and a smile on my face :)
