question for guys using Surfix

I just finished my first big surface project using the surfix HD.  42''X72 6/4 walnut island top.
Followed the instructions on the tin container....applied my final cote....waited 15min then buffed using the white pad then wiped off the excess with a lint free rag.

After letting it sit overnight it seems to have sweat a bit, I've got a few patches with different sheen and it feels a little rough...kinda like overspray.

Im supposed to deliver this top on monday so I don't have much time to experiment....Anyone have any advise?
000 steel wool and minwax finishing paste?
 
I'd think you would want it to fully cure before putting another layer of finish like wax over it. I looked at the festool usa site and didn't find any info on how long it would take to fully cure.  I used the surfix on a yellow pine workbench top 3-4 years ago and seem to recall it took more than a few days to stop sweating. Id wipe it with rags before i went to work and when I got home. Afterwards I think I buffed it with my rotex using a felt pad.
 
Ya, I've used the outdoor oil on teak, applied a layer at 4:00 in the afternoon on a 70 degree day and it was still tacky at 10:00 the next morning. I'd try maybe another very light application of the HD oil but buff it in real well with the white pad. At least that way you're not mixing the chemistries before the oil has totally setup.
 
I put some over plywood. It seemed to take a long time.
First coat was thick and with a buff 15 minutes later, then I got a heap of oil off with a few rags.
So I needed a lot to cover it, but it did not suck in and then was not exactly tacky later... but finally 2-3 days later seemed slippery (but most oil and waxes do seem slippery that way) the stink also took a few days to subside, which is an aural sign.
 
I think mine dried pretty good...just isn't smooth and feels kinda rough rubbing my hand over it.
Looking for a way to polish or wax it at this point...but maybe Ill have to leave it. Im sure over time it'll get better.

I think you're ready to burnish it. Head over to talkFestool and read the threads created by AusRob, who has spent some time with perfecting oil burnished finishes. I can't remember if he went to paper blotting to stop the sweating or more Vlies buffing to really work a oil into the pores of the wood piece.
 
Just curious if anyone's tried burnishing with a felt pad? I've always exited the process after the white Vlies stage.
 
I'd go to the old standby.... Light wipe with mineral spirits.... let completely dry and then, buff out any irregularities and then one final very light coat.
