Question regarding MFK 700

I have a MFK 700 Set and a 0 degree base I ordered after I watched Sedge's vid on it.  I have watched several other videos on how to use it and it's use cases.  Today I watched a vid here on FOG regarding a Lipping Plane.  Pretty awesome if you ask me.  Seems to me that the MFK 700 with the 0 degree base would be very similar or same use case as long as your not cutting much more than 3/4 inch banding or whatever your bit reaches out to.  What am I missing?  What other use cases am I missing in comparison between a lipping planer and a MFK 700?

Dan, That is exactly how I use one of mine. It is set up with a modified 0 degree base, which I use often enough to leave it that way. The beauty of it is that it will flush-trim to a veneered (or laminate) surface, even if the trim is following a radius.
I have a second one, that I use for the other things the MFK700 can do.  The extended portion of the vertical base makes it very stable, when used that way.

They will do the same thing. I used a 700 for quite a while and it works very well. I bought a lipping planer to make set up time disappear and to get rid of the limit on edge banding width. With the lipping planer it is just get it out and use it. With the 700 you need to set it up (unless dedicated)  and (unless modified) it is limited to about 5/8".

700 does a great job and is great to have for the task if you don't want to put a pretty sizeable amount of dollars into a dedicated lipping planer.

What other use cases am I missing in comparison between a lipping planer and a MFK 700?

Inside corners and holes.  Which you can do slowly with a vertical base and flat endmill like the plane cutter.

OK!  Im not losing my mind.  Thanks for the response.  I was starting to itch a little (my FOMO) and then I looked at pricing and common sense took over.  I would never use a lipping plane to get my money's worth.  Appreciate it!
