Questions on the older, classic (?) Maxi Systainers

Hello:  I picked up a pile (23 cases) of the older, original? or Classic, systainers.
This was either a very smart move, or a dumb move.  I only own a couple of the Sys3 containers, and got one of the last corded CT-SYS vacuums.

I'm wondering about these latch things on the Maxi, and a lot of the latches are very stiff or "grindy"  Is there a recommended way to loosen them up?

OK; I think I found one answer on YouTube, still trying to figure out the stiff latches

thanks,

The "central" latches on the MAXI are so you can connect standard-size systainers to the MAXI using their front "fingers" and then latch them on the back, using the MAXI latches.

The Classic latches were allways a bit on ther hard/difficult side. This is absolutely highlighted when one is used to the T-Locs. But it is normal. The lacthes are just way, way overbuilt as when Festo was doing the original design, they did not really know/expect how people will use them so the whole Classic line was built like a tank.

My advice is to get some more MAXIs so you can build a stack of them in a SYS-PORT style arrangement. Generally, the Classics are a PITA (compared to T-Locs) to close, but, unlike the T-Loc style, they allow to fully close the lid with the latches opened and the latches do not protrude. This is very practical in a SYS-PORT as there is no need to be closing locking the systainers while in the shop and one would "close" them only when stacking.

Also, I would strongly advise to get a couple of the RB SYS TL carts while they are still possible to find ... see this thread:https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/...does-the-maxi-systainer-fit-onto-the-sys-roll

Hate the latches on the classics. I can't believe there are companies that still ship tools in these style cases.

The difference that paste wax makes on Classic Systainer latches is unbelievable. Not sure how much affect it has on the Maxi centre latches, but on the corner ones, it sure does the trick. Still not as nice as the T-Loc, but the wax makes operation of the latches easy.
